Mr. and Mrs. Wayne C. Campbell. D. M. Matthews Called To Life Eternal Aug. 22. Had Resided Entire Lifetime in Augusta Township and Was Highly Regarded. D. M. "Pete" Matthews was called to life eternal at his late home in Augusta township, Saturday, August 22. He had been in declining health for several months and for a long number of weeks, during the past spring, was a patient in the St. Francis hospital at Peoria . Throughout his decline in health, members of the family had given him constant and tender care, doing all that was humanly possible to make him comfortable. It was a great source of satisfaction in having his family with him and he often expressed his appreciation for their loving kindness as well as for the thoughtfulness of his legion of friends. When a highly regarded man like D. M. Matthews is taken, it leaves a void not only in the home but in the community. Funeral Services. Funeral services, held at the Markee Funeral Home in Augusta at 2 oÂ’clock Monday afternoon were largely attended. Rev. J. B. Roosa, Christian minister delivered the comforting message. A quartette composed of Fred Beard, Oren Dennis, George Bottorhoff and Clarence Green, sang old and favorite hymns, "Going Down the Valley" and "Rock of Ages" with Miss Ella Pendleton piano accompanist. The floral tributes were beautiful. Committal services were at Irwin cemetery west of Plymouth where it was most appropriate that five sons, Elsworth, Alfred, Miles, Lawrence and Fernando and one grandson Robert Matthews should serve as casket bearers carrying their father to his final resting place. The children will be a source of comfort to the devoted and faithful companion of mare than fifty years. Attend Funeral. Relatives and friends from a distance attending the funeral were Mrs. W. J.
