World War II was in full force when the couple got married. Shortly after they were wed, Dad was drafted into the army and mom worked a full-time job and joined the ranks of women-at-home-waiting for their loved ones who fought on foreign shores. They wrote a lot of letters. Dad's nickname for Mom was "Honey-Lou" and he would address her letters that way. Mom loved it when the mailman would stop by and say "I got a letter for Honey-Lou". |
