This image is more of a year's journey on canvas versus a year long effort.
During the year, as I was painting, the breaking  news came over my television that Diana had been killed in a Paris car accident. I was working in this area of the canvas and I painted DI into the pattern to freeze the moment. The poignancy of this area is the time-link association. I had been painting in that 20cm X 20cm area (8 square inches) for the previous 6 hours. I can look back on this section and feel a time bond to her final moments of life. Where I was....Where she was.
