Fortune is ultimately Responsible for this page......

I happened to get my hands on a prerelease copy of the "Sacrificed" disc when I didn't
expect it. So, therefore, I thought I would further the "musical education " of my visitors and introduce them to a band that has kept me bouncing happily for some time now. Among the many things on this page, I have included my reviews of some of Romell's best work, tour pictures, sounds clips and a list of stores for those of you in the Cleveland, Columbus, and Chicago Area where you can pick up or order RIB discs. And...... you deprived unfortunates who are unfamiliar with Razed In Black, look below for a description of their style and a list of their previous releases.

News/Tour Info

News from the
last couple months

I sincerely hope all of you have picked up Damaged at your local record/online store! The new album is wonderfully danceable and the best release I've heard to date. To back up the new release, Razed IN Black will be touring starting Oct 23 until early December, so make sure to get yourself to see an energetic live show!

Tour dates are available on the index page, but to keep an eye on changes and TBA's, check the official site.

Some tracks are available on compilation albums such as Cryonica Tanz II and Gravers Paradise Hot Topic comps!

Romell has been up to a lot as usual, producing music by a band called Emergence, and has also done some excellent nonstop DJ remixes on a 3CD box called This Is NeoGoth, and This Is Electroclash available through Cleo Recs. I've heard a sample of his work on there and I can definitely vouch for the quality and danceability of this soon to be released gem!

The Electric Skull Kitchen
is currently playing tracks from the Damaged CD, so be sure to listen up for them , as well as some Transmutator songs!

Current News

I have just had the pleasure of attending the Chicago RIB concert at Abbey Pub and have lots of pics for you all to drool over! Five pages worth of purple and black goodness, as well as a show review! For those of you who are waiting for RIB to hit your town, you're in for a real treat. Don't miss the Damaged Tour 2003!!!!

I also hope you all noticed/enjoyed the new flash intro/tour date listing! There's nothing quite like free code to dress up your website, and frankly I couldn't resist!

Not only do I have a brief prerelease review up, but I put up a nice fleshy review of Damaged with juicy details! Go have a look!

Romell graciously allowed me to interview him. The interview is not yet complete, as he is still answering some questions for me, but I have posted what I have and included some photos and Romell's reasoning behind the suture tracks on Sacrificed. Go take a look!

I converted all the wav soundclips to MP3 format as well as adding 2 new ones!

The club is a forum for discussions and the latest RIB events, as well as a place well devoted fans can talk to each other.

WHO IS RAZED IN BLACK???

Well...Romell Regulacion, for starters. He is the fury behind it all, having "recorded, engineered, performed, and produced " all his own music. Contributing to the energy of his live performances is Ivan Delaforce (also a member of STOMP)on drums. Romell can also be credited with the graphics and CD design from Overflow, his 1997 release and well as those for Sacrificed and other cleo releases! Romell also is a formidable DJ, (DJ RIB and DJ Skooby) and has spun at many events in the Hawaii/LA area. His music has been featured in everything from TV shows, to movies to video games - check out the Official page to for a listing! Razed <IN> Black is our Industrial ambassador from Hawaii, and makes its home on the Cleopatra label along with other bands like Spahn Ranch and Switchblade Symphony."Hawaii?!!!" you say. Why not? Not everything there has to be fruity and flowery, and Romell's music is anything but. It is a fiery blend of Industrial, Electro, Hard Trance, and Drum/Bass infused with grinding guitars, and caustic emotions. I find Romell's vocals to be "Reznor-esque" in quality; he can go from a scream, to a whisper, to something more melodic with ease and amazing intensity. Above all, RIB is INFECTIOUSLY DANCEABLE, and extremely club worthy. Sacrificed
in particular has a large number of danceable tracks. Interested? Curious?
FEELING THREATENED? Good. Then check out Razed In Black's releases:

Shrieks, Laments and Anguished Cries--1996
First release, features "Cyberium" and "What's Fair?"

Overflow--1997 Remix Album that features the title track "Overflow"

Sacrificed--1999 Full length CD that features "Master" and "Never Meant"

Oh My Goth EP--2001 Oh My Goth remix album, other Sacrificed remixes

Damaged -- 2 CD set full of original material, remixes and live video footage

Razed in Black is still fairly new in the scene, when you consider their first release was only in '96. I think they are one of the most promising bands of the Goth/Industrial resurgence. RIB has a sound that unlike
a lot of new bands, is very distinct and evocative. Romell's work in general seems to be in constant demand---he has done numerous covers and remixes for other groups. His band enjoys wonderful support in Hawaii, and has many fans in Japan
also, but RIB deserves more widespread attention than just the west coast. It's okay to covet your Skinny Puppy, or Sisters, or Front Line Assembly, they're all good.
Just don't be afraid to give the newer guys
a chance. They are no less worthy of your listening than the established favorites. We are the ones who make this scene. For it to change and grow, we have to support it.
So do your part.
