( Go joo kee doe')
Practice for
Health and Longevity,
Larry Kishiyama has studied and perfected all his life, a "soft" form of karate known as Gojukido (hard-soft-spirit-way). Gojukido is the Japanese form of karate and involves less physical contact than other forms with no competitiveness. The way of Gojukido teaches control of the spirit as a complement to guiding the body. The art allows one to expel tensions, whether they arise from frustrations or anger, without injury to self, others or the environment. Gojukido is a functional and peaceful approach to heightened awareness, balance, strength, joy and non-violence. He has produced a video to show how postures are used by martial artists and how anyone can use them at work or home. These postures bring stress relief mental and physical replenishment, and harmony with nature. Find out more about Gojukido by selecting the links listed to the right. Larry Kishiyama has been teaching since 1964. He is the author of Ai lmawa, and has produced a video of his work in collaboration with the internationally revered composer Kitaro. |
