Latest News Habs Suffer First Regulation Loss Martin Havlat and Bryan Smolinski scored for the Blackhawks as Chicago beat the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 on Wednesday night in front of 11 095 at United Center. Chris Higgins had the lone goal for the Habs. It was a goaltenders battle as Nikolai Khabibulin of the Hawks and the Canadiens' David Aebischer were selected the first and thrid star respectively. The Habs next game is Saturday night in Montreal as they play host to the Colorado Avalanche. Bonk, Souray put Habs over Flames Radek Bonk and Sheldon Souray both scored twice and Alex Kovalev had the winning goal late in the third as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Calgary Flames 5-4 on Tuesday night in front of 21 273 at the Bell Centre. Matthew Lombardi, twice, Chuck Kobasew and Dion Phaneuf scored for Calgary. The Habs outshot the Flames 36-24. Cristobal Huet was in net for Montreal. Downey Injured Habs forward Aaron Downey was injured during the first period of Tuesday night's game against the Calgary Flames after being violently hit by Flames defenceman Robyn Regehr. Downey lay motionless on the ice before being helped to the dressing room. He was taken to hospital for tests. Dandenault Injured Canadiens' defenceman Mathieu Dandenault tore his hamstring against the Senators on Saturday. He tore the muscle right off the bone. He is out indefinately. Mark Streit will replace Dandenault in the lineup. |
