Episode 1: "Round One—Begin!" Day 1 of the Pokémon League Tournament. Ash’s first battle is on the Water Field. Misty offers Ash her Water Pokémon, but he uses Krabby, who’s never fought before—a bold opening gambit for young Mr. Ketchum.
Episode 2: "Fire and Ice." Ash’s next face-off takes place on the Rock Field, where he relies on Squirtle. (OK, I’m no trainer, but would you trust your fate to a creature named Squirtle?)
Episode 3: "The Fourth Round Rumble." Ash’s latest battle is against his toughest opponent, Jeanette Fisher from Crimson City. She brings a whole cheering section. That’s got to tilt the playing field. Advantage, Miss Fisher.
Episode 4: "A Friend in Deed." Ash’s mom and Professor Oak make a surprise visit. Ash meets a fellow trainer who also has a Pikachu. Small world. They become friends. Contrary to rumors, they do not move into a loft and start their own business selling hand-dipped candles.
Episode 5: "Friend and Foe Alike." Ash and his new companion are forced to battle each other. Can their friendship survive? More important, will they go for lattes afterward?
Episode 6: "Friends to the End." At the final match, Ash learns a valuable lesson that will guide him on the rest of his quest. Knowing Ash, he’d much rather have the Master’s badge.
