073. Escaping

I wanted to escape.

Dad always told me that High School would get better, but that wasn't true for me. I couldn't even escape my tormentor during the Summer.

I was heading for Lou's for a hotdog when I heard the sound of an engine, and when a card didn't pass I turned to look.

And immediately wished I hadn't...

It was Biff, in his new car, the only thing worse than Biff on foot, was Biff behind the wheel, I couldn't understand how the DMV could give him a licence.

"Hey McFly," he called out, "how's that homework goin’?"

If it wasn't bad enough that I did Biff's homework during school time, I had let myself be bullied into doing his summer catch-up homework too! Sometimes, even I couldn’t believe how much of a wimp I was.

"Fine," I muttered.

Biff curled his lip at me. "Good, but you better have it done in two weeks, or you're dead." "OK," I shrugged, used to death threats, I turned and started walking again. "Say, where do you think you’re goin'? I didn't say you could leave!" Biff yelled.

I sighed and turned around. "What?"

"Well, well, well, that's pretty feisty for you, isn't it, McFly?" He looked at each of his gang, smirking. "I’m just...in a hurry," I told him, I wasn't really, but if it got me away from him and his gang...

"Are you now? Why, is a spider chasin' you, you bug?"

They all laughed as if that was the most hilarious thing ever said.

Noticing that I wasn't he snarled. "Why aren’t you laughin’, McFly? You don’t think I'm funny, huh?"

Of course, I didn't! I thought he was an idiot, a really scary one, but still an idiot.

"Well, then...if you wanna get serious," he gunned the engine. "Let's see how fast you can buzz, McFly."

I didn't actually think he'd do it...

But the next thing I knew the black Ford was coming right at me!

I was gonna die!

I was hardly staying ahead and he was only going about ten miles per hour!

You'd think people would help someone who was about to be run down with a car, but no. Most just turned and started, a few of them looked like they were laughing.

I did have some luck, a police car drove by at the intersection of my street and First and Biff had to stop. But I knew he'd catch up to me, I had to hide somewhere...anywhere! Then I saw the tree, I must have been on some adrenaline high because even though the first branches were eight feet off the ground I scrambled up the trunk.

The leaves proved good coverage, Biff and his gang came coasting down the street, looking around, but not able to see me.

"Where the Hell is that Irish Bug?" Biff snarled, his face red.

"How'd he get away so fast?" Skinhead demanded. "I can't believe that scrawny nerd can even run!"

"Aww, who cares, McFly's a wuss, you'll get your homework, Biff." 3D said.

Biff grunted, he seemed to be distracted by the house across the street.

"What ya lookin' at, Biff?" Match asked, tossing his match away and immediately pulling out another.

"That’s her house," Biff muttered, "you think she’s home?"

"Yeah and her folks probably are too and they'd flip if you knocked on their door." 3D said with a shrug.

Biff turned on him. "What's that supposed to mean?"

3D went pale, not that I blamed him, Biff only gave me that look when he was about to punch me.

"You sayin' I ain't good enough for her?" Biff's face was going purple now.

"No, no," 3D waved his hands, "I just mean...you don't wanna meet her folks, do you? I mean parents..."

Biff grunted, turning back to the house. "Yeah, yeah," he gunned the engine. "But someday she'll be mine."

I watched the black Ford drive off, and then looked at the house, wondering who the poor girl Biff had the hots for was.

And then I found out...

In the window I could see..

Well, a girl...the girl, I guess...

And she'd obviously just taken a shower, because...

It was the biggest shock I'd ever had in my whole life, I almost fell out of the tree!

I didn't though, instead I just stayed there...watching...

I guess I really did escape that day.
