The Hobbit

Bilbo Baggins is a respectable hobbit who never does anything out of the ordinary. So, he is surprised to say the least when Gandalf the wizard and a band of dwarves show up on his doorstep. They set out on a fantastic adventure where they encounter trolls, spiders, dark forests, mystical mountains, enigmatic runes, golden treasure, dragons, elves and things beyond their wildest dreams.

If I had to describe this in a few words, it would be "Lord of the Rings Lite". It's shorter, more to the point, not as boring, maybe you could call it more fun. I hope Peter Jackson will make a movie of this one (better than the awful cartoon).

The Lord Of The Rings

On Bilbo Baggins eleventy-second birthday mysterious begin to happen to his nephew Frodo. First Bilbo vanishes into thin air and then he learns of great evils that are after a possession that Bilbo is going to give him. Sauron wants to take over middle earth and Frodo and his friends may be the only ones who can save it ... and themselves.

This book is extremely boring in places, especially the interminably long birthday party at the beginning. But by the end of the "Fellowship of the Ring" it's exciting. All in all, it took me 6 weeks to read it, because I couldn't read it in one sitting or my head would explode, I needed to read other, lighter, things in between. Still an excellent book everyone has to read at some point in their lives.
