Garrett Freymann-Weyr Books
My Heartbeat. 5Q, 4P
A Printz Honour Book
- This is an amazing and wonderfully written book. Garrett is a genius. This book is told through the eyes of Ellen, someone changing the way she sees her Manhattan world. Ellen wonders if her brother Link, and his best friend James are more than just friends. In this adroit look at love and sexuality, and what it all means, and family, the author sensitively plots an excellent book. I'd have to agree with the School Library Journal and call this a "tightly constructed novel".
When I Was Older. 5Q, 4P
- The characters are brilliant and memorable, the story is engaging and fun. It is hard to describe why this book is so great, but one word that comes to mind often is "fine". It's luxurious and all around well crafted simply the best.
