  1. The main idea of the chapter is "Called to be Like Jesus." It's main focus is for us to incorporate the values and teachings of Jesus Christ in our twisted society today. Jesus taught that those that are least among society-oriented peoples are the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Although society and its teachings are easy and go hand in hand with our temptations, Jesus challenges us to live by his countercultural teachings which have been proven to be very successful in their affect on the spirit and mind. Jesus' teachings are hard to follow, but if followed they are ultimately the best.
  2. To be honest, I have never read the Sermon on the Mount all the way through until now. The teachings really offer great insight. Jesus turns almost every law established with Moses and tells people to retaliate with kindness and peace. Everything he taught at the Mount, especially the Beatitudes, contradict today's society in many many ways. I think it's a good thing to remember because they are teachings to live by, and I am going to try to do so.

I think that the discrepancies between Gospel narratives are interesting, especially in the Nativity segment. Luke and Matthew, although they used the same Q document and Mark for their basis, have different points stressed in their rendition. For example, only Matthew had the story of the Magi visiting, while only Luke had the explanation of why Mary and Joseph were going to Bethlehem. These writers were only human, and these differences show that neither writer knew the story in its entirety.

  3. Are there any significant people after the time of Jesus and his apostles that followed every teaching of Jesus and wrote about his experiences? I am particularily interested in those times in the early middle ages that the Church was very sketchy and corrupt.
  4. YMCA
The YMCA, although a private association, is an association that follows Christian teachings. It stresses healthy relationships with family and friends, a healthy Christian spirit, and a healthy body. They host many camps, activities, and services for children and adults. Each of their centers are places where you can work out in a friendly environment with the equipment in ready and working order. Because of their healthy attitude and Christian basis, they are considered a very good Christian association.
