It wasn't long ago that Philadelphia-born Pink (real name: Alecia Moore) made a promise to herself: "I'm gonna make it so that when I walk down the block, people look at me twice." Well, she has succeeded in making most folks do a double take -- and not just because she's got a fuchsia 'do (actually, it's "flamenco," she corrects) and a tongue stud. Pink's also a fast-rising pop star, thanks to her debut single, "There You Go," which she cowrote with Xscape's Kandi Buruss and producer She'kspere. "I started writing [songs] because I looked at it like, how could you let other people speak for you -- especially with someone who has so much to say, like myself," says Pink, who names Cyndi Lauper and Madonna as influences. Her own powerhouse pipes and, of course, that coif, set Pink apart in a sea of singing starlets of the young and blonde variety. "She's a star," declares her TEEN PEOPLE shootmate Sisqo. "It's like, certain people got it, and she got it."
