THE HISTORY OF DAYS
Days Of Our Lives premiered on USA network NBC on November 8th 1965 as a thirty minute daytime drama serial. Back then daytime drama was still a bit OTT but not quite as OTT and as juicy as it is today.
In April 1975 it started airing for one hour a day, and never looked back. Rating went up and up and up and it now is usually seen 2nd or third in the daytime ratings.
Days is set in the fictional Midwestern town of Salem. Some dispute what state it is in although it has never stated, and others believe Salem is a magical town.
Even though it is a daytime soap, it still has had 3 primetime specials on NBC. One Stormy Night in 1992, Night Sins in 1993, and Winter Heat in 1994.
Days has two core families, the Hortons and the Bradys. And nearly all stories revolve around them, their families, and friends.
Days is seen as the most outrageous Daytime soap and has jacked up fans all over the world. Not to forget all the awards it has.
