There are initiatives, that are mentioned on this site, to act as countermeasures to
prevent these things from happening. I, by no means, am an expert at this. I will
have to tell you that I have done a lot of research on the subject and I am confident
that my system and files are secure from those whom I do not want to see where I have been,
what I have been looking at and what files are saved on my computer.
I suggest you visit SecurityLogics
and let them scan your system and find out exactly where your internet security risks are. It is free - All you have to do is register. The information they provide about your system is very detailed and the report that is generated from the site offers suggestions on ways to "beef" up your internet security.
And of course - you are in need of a good anti-virus progrum that runs full tim in your tray and one that has the ability to scan downloads and e-mail attachments. There are a number of programs out there and one is just as good as the other I would guess. Needless to say, you do need one
1. MIT Distribution Center for PGP - A free PGP encryption program.
If you were to take down these programs, you would find that your system files are well protected and the threat of intrusions to your data and/or files will be greatly reduced.
