James A. Garfield Camp #142
Sons of Union Veterans
of the Civil War
Welcome to the James A. Garfield Camp #142, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.  The Camp is in the Greater Cleveland area with members from several counties of northeast Ohio.  The Camp holds monthly meetings from September to May.

In addition to the monthly meetings the Camp organizes and participates in civic ceremonies throughout the year.  One of the primary objectives of the Camp has been the identification and maintenance of the graves of Union veterans.  In recent years the Camp has helped to secure new gravestones for a number of Union Veterans and has organized dedication ceremonies for these forgotten heroes.

Membership is open to male descendants of Union Civil War Veterans.  Men who do not have Union Civil War ancestors may join as associates.

The Camp is named after
James A. Garfield, the twentieth president of the United States and a major general in the Civil War.  Garfield lived in northeast Ohio and is entombed in Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
