SKELETON ARMY IS A NEW BAND FROM GERMANY, AND THEY PLAY THE KIND OF DIRTY ROCK I'M A HIGE FAN OF... NOT ONLY I HAVE BEEN FLOORED BY THEIR SPLIT CD WITH THE HILLSIDE STRANGLERS, BUT I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED FIRST HAND THEIR HOSPITALITY WHEN WE WERE ON TOUR IN THE FATHERLAND, AND HELL, IT WAS FOR SURE ONE OF THE BEST NIGHTS I HAD IN THE LAST COUPLE O' MONTHS, WITH HEAVY DRINKING ACTION AND GENERAL MAYHEM. SO I DECIDED TO TURN BACK THE FAVOUR, AND NOT ONLY A FAVOUR BUT AN ADVICE FOR ALL YOU READERS, CHECK OUT THIS BAND, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED, BELIEVE ME.

GD- Tell us a brief band history for the unaware readers... We started around September 1999 with the SKELETON ARMY after some bands from the Darmstadt Area broke up. Three of us have played in a band called NARSAAK before. I would call it Deathpunk with nihilistic lyrics in yugoslavian & german language. The other two people came from the G.G. ALLIN - Coverband called G.G. LEPA & THE ODENWALD NAZIS or later CHURCH OF G.G. I was involved in both so, we put both together and wanted to do something "serious". We started playing shows more or less one year later and have played a lot of it until now with bands like ANTiSEEN, COCKNOOSE, COLUMBIAN NECKTIES and a whole lot more. We have also released one Demo-CD, a split-7" with KACKOPHONIA which is the second band of our drummer Kossi, he plays bass for them. Our latest release was the Split-CD with the HILLSIDE STRANGLERS from Detroit U.S.A. on our own label STARWHORE CORP. which belongs to a friend of us. This was a result of a common small tour in November 2002. After the release of the CD and our shows with the mighty COCKNOOSE we had the first trouble in the band. Our second guitar player Conny Lingus left the band after that for understandable reasons. Now we are continuing as a four piece but still interested to have a second guitar player in the band if we find the right one. But that's not easy.

GD- You come from Germany, have you got any link with the Community of Filth?
We come from Darmstadt which is in the south of Hessen next to Bavaria. Yeah, we have played some shows with BORN BAVARIAN and the FAGGOT KINGS and still have good contacts to both of them. Even if the FAGGOT KINGS split up after they played our place in Darmstadt, where we set up shows for bands we like from time to time. So BORN BAVARIAN is the only leftover of the COMMUNITY OF FILTH which is still around as a band. I haven't seen any of the other bands that were in the C.O.F. The best band of the C.O.F. in my opinion was NOTHING BUT PUKE but they also broke up some years ago.

GD- What is Starwhore Productions?
STARWHORE CORP. which are organizing shows from time to time are me and some friends. After we planned to do a split-CD with the HILLSIDE STRANGLERS and there wasn't a label in sight to put it out we decided to use this name also to release our CD. We are organizing some parties also from time to time to get some money for further activities.

GD- What about the German response to your music and to the thoughts you're carrying on with the band?
We don't want to promote anything with the band. Our lyrics are about what's pissing us off for the biggest part. We don't care if someone feels offended by the words we use to describe that. In the past we had a couple of lyrics which has spoken in a more symbolic way from Conny Lingus but in the future we don't want to use them anymore because he's not in the band anymore. We never had any trouble during our shows or after them but I think we have picked up the right shows to play with the band. We try to avoid to play shows at places or with bands which can't take our kind of humor or can't deal with the whole thing because that's no fun. People want to talk about why we are singing that and why we are doing Covers of G.G. ALLIN. I'm sick and tired of discussions like that and I don't want to justify anything which we are doing with the band.

GD- Allright, so is there some kind of negative reaction in Germany when people hear the name GG Allin? I noticed while there it's a pretty much PC country, even in the punk rock scene... what can you tell me about it?
Most times we had good responses for doing G.G. ALLIN-Covers but as I told you before we picked out very well, where we want to play and where we don't want to play. At some shows some people wanted to talk about G.G. and trying to convince us of what they think about him. How could you to songs of such an antisocial asshole and stuff like that. G.G. ALLIN is nowadays more popular than during his lifetime I think. I think the P.C. people in Germany are not that much anymore especially in the punkrock-scene. There are some places I know about who are really concerned about the P.C. but if we were asked for lyrics before we can play somewhere I would deny because the people should take us how we are or they can doing shows with other bands.

GD- What do you think about the current status of the European rock scene?Do you think we're crawling up to equal the american levels?
I think the european rockscene don't have to hide behind the american. I never went to America so I can't say something about the shows there except what I know from second hand informations of friends. When it comes to the bands I think we have some of the greatest actual bands here in Europe like the EL GUAPO STUNTTEAM, COLUMBIAN NECKTIES, your band and lots of more. When I look to Spain or Scandinavia there are tons of good bands coming and going. I think we have reached the level of the american rockscene a long time ago.

GD- Now tell me, is Guido always drunk on the floor or what?
When he starts to drink, he won't stop until he drops. If it's the floor, a desk or somewhere else, he doesn't care, as you've experienced for yourself. But it takes a lot of time and drinks until this will happen. He drinks himself totally "brainless" and is only leaded by instincts then, like a Caveman.

GD- Now that the COF is just one band, don't you feel like legitimated in joining it? What is your real feeling about this kind of idea, that eventually leads to segregation in my opinion?
We have talked about that with Steve from the FAGGOT KINGS which was the last band I saw playing under the C.O.F. banner. It's not really important for us, if we're in it or not because I don't think, that we'll have any advantages or disadvantages because of that. I like this kind of idea even if it's the same idea like the C.O.S. bands had years before. But the C.O.F. is a couple of people which are big fans of the C.O.S. bands and the idea behind it. They are about playing good music and having a good time with it. Not everybody can share their kind of humour and preferences, we do for the biggest part.

GD- What are the future plans for the band? Any new recording or such is coming?
As I've told you before we are just 4 people now (only one guitar). So we are doing new songs and covers now. Our first show will be in Munich on 28th of June together with your band THE NERDS and some kind of a one-man-performance. We like to play some more shows after summer and also want to record some new songs in a friend's studio... We want to have a release on our own as soon as possible. This time on vinyl for sure.
