SAVAGE CITY OYTLAWS ARE PROBABLY THE FIRST PORTUGUESE BAND I'VE EVER KNOWN, BUT SINCE I LISTENED FIRST TO THEIR SIDE OF THE SPLIT 7" WITH BOOTLEG BILL I REALIZED I WOULD HAVE MISSED ON SOMETHING IF I HAD LOST THE CHANCE TO DROP THEM SOME QUESTIONS. THEIR SOUND IS SCORCHY AND SCUMMY LIKE GG ALLIN & THE SCUMFUCS AND EVERY FAN OF ANTISEEN AND THE COS SHOULD KEEP AN EYE WIDE OPEN ON THIS BAND, ALSO BECAUSE THEY'VE GOT THE GEOGRAPHICAL TWIST OF THE WILDEST EUROPEAN SOUTHERN LAND AND, NOT LEAST, THEY ARE BROTHERS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN FORCES. BE PREPARED TO TAKE A LESSON FROM THE WORDS OF SICKO SAVAGE AND CACTUS CONIN!!

GD- How did the Outlaws come to existence? Portugal is a rather new country for punk rock, almost in my eyes...
SS-In fact Portugal was a bit closed to the international underground of Punk too many time. In the 80's the scene was too small and with no support basically. Too many hard drugs involved also helped as the Punk bands many times and venues with Punk music ended up quickly. But its normal Punks are dumb and always will be, ahahah! There is Punk Rock here since 77 but the scene only evolved and opened more in the early 90's. Speaking of more bands, more record releases and more gigs and zines. Anyway the Hardcore scene surpassed Punkrock and its still bigger nowadays. That's sad, but true...why waste time with middle class spoilt kids noise when you can bang your head with something better? The last 6/7 years the scene of Punk and Rock&Roll underground evolved a lot and now we have some real decent bands. I'm making music for 12 years now. S.C.O. came from the dismemberment of a project Conin had called Dirty Boots and the Scum City Rockers. He had been rehearsing a few songs inspired by GG and Hellstomper and Hookers basically he recorded it with a drummer who went a bit crazy in the head with Lsd. Then he invited me to put the vocals in. We arranged the first session in Lisbon in his cousins house. We made a lot of noise but actually without me rehearsing properly i was able to record the first 3 songs for the split Ep with Bootleg Bill in 2 hours. I never had heard them before!!

CC- When I decided to end my old band , I started making songs with T.S. Canibal on drums and psycho Kid on vocals but soon I saw that Kid was not a good singer for this project so I asked Sicko to join and that's true, he recorded all the vocal tracks for the 3 songs on the Ep in about 2 hours!!!

GD- How you hooked up with Bootleg Bill, delivering that awesome split record?
SS-Cactus Conin will have to do that one...

CC- in S.C.O i record all songs, I play all the guitars and bass lines and sometimes even the drums. Bill does the same thing and I really like his music, lyrics and guitar skills so he was the best person to make this release with us I asked him and he promptly said o.k so we made this split 7"Ep, end of story.

GD- Porn and fucking seem to be the main obsessions in the band, does this only relate to the scumfuc tradition or are you really into it as it seems??
SS-Not much. Well you might have that idea due to the split Ep artwork. In fact was Bill's idea. Not ours. We just followed the concept. Anyway, we love the bitches. And good porn too. I don't care about being a scumfuck. I did a lot of shit in my life already I just want to live a good life and live for Rock&Roll.

CC- I like porn and I have songs about bitches "bloody buttfuck" or "filth avenue", but my lyrics are more about living for rock'n'roll on this savage land where we were born , my outlaw, metal and trucker friends, against foreign invasions, against all the pop whores, techno fags, hippie losers and rap bastards, and we also have songs dedicated to wrestling and football (soccer)!!!

GD- Tell me something about how you are conservative rockers...
SS-We don't like foreign invasions, we are patriots not in a political way but related to our roots which we don't want to lose or be humiliated by scum who comes here from Africa or Brasil and fucks with our people. I say: Fuck them all and send 'em back to their shitholes where they belong! I'm not a satanist or a crazy nihilist. I'm not an anarchist, not a nazi not a commie, I am a working man and I like my land. I like my family and I like my Christian God. I'm happy like this and I won't tolerate someone saying I'm dumb just because I think like a working man. When I was young I thought I was really Punk with some attitudes but growing up and the lesson of life
makes you learn that you can only choose one side in life. You can't be with the demons and the angels at the same time. Maybe you can try...but you will lose.

CC-yes, it's true like Sicko said we really love our land and we dont like foreign invasions who come here and do all this mess in my country. For this people who come here and just want to fuck the place were I was born, I have a bullet reserved for them!!!!

GD- Is the band just a recording project or will you take the goods to the people?
SS-We might deliver the goods! We might....the juggernaut needs a proper bass player. In the Video we filmed recently, we are in the studio playing with my great friend Nuno Nugent who lives in London but he's Portuguese. As a big fan of COS-Punk, and GG style shit plus the usual Punkrock, Metal and Rock&Roll, living that shit every fuckin' day, he was the perfect man to complete the pack. He was with us a few days on holidays here and we made the video. He loved the band! Fuck yeah, it was the Hookers rolled with Hellstomper, GG and scummy Metal and you know...the cool lyrics made mostly by Cactus Conin. Some are over the top! I've made Darlings of the Hype and Rap is Crap only.

CC-We played one show before Sicko joined the band with Psycho Kid on vocals. Maybe if well have the right conditions we will do it again. I can tell you that it will be a fucking wild and bloody show!!!!

GD- Tell us something about your releases, and especially the videotape thing....
SS-The first Ep came out in the summer of 2003, and its a split Ep with the infamous Bootleg Bill. In december we'll kick 3 new songs in the split Ep with nothing less than...Hellstomper!! Should be the "Rap is Crap" Ep!! It will include "Darlings of the Hype" (raw version), Rap is Crap (brand new track) and Mad Trucker. These songs are two steps further than the old recording. You can hear darlings of the hype on the Video. Speaking about the video, it came out this fall and its limited to 100 copies, some in CD video with DVD box and some in VHS. The cover of the video was made by Mauamor the artist who always work with Sleazey Records bands and The No-Counts D.O.M. More shit to come obviously! Valentim do Caralho is the label of Conin so he might give you a better idea of more releases related to SCO.

CC-The next release will be the "Rap is crap" Ep split with Hellstomper band after, the "Moustached mullet metal outlaw" Ep. I'm also working on the new Tony Scum hits that will be released by the same time of the "Rap is crap" Ep and some more tracks for compilations!!!

GD- What do you think about European punk rock? Are there any bands you feel worth of consideration?
SS-Old or new? ahahah! Well...I guess you are relating to newcoming bands...the older ones are too many! I remember some cool bands like We were Wolves in Portugal, I'm not gonna say the No-Counts ahahahah! Anyway, we're not a "Punk rock" band, in the beginning we were but just in the beginning, 2001-2002. Okaaayyy sorrryy!!! Well, in Spain I remember interesting bands like Holy Sheep, the great Safety Pins and Sin City Six, Italy I have to make big cheers to the Nerds, they're improving a lot the new record is so hot!! The Spades from Holland are serious business, Mobile Mob and Speedfreaks from Sweden are heavy ass stuff!! Also I remember the awesome
Columbian Neckties from Denmark, Sweden again with Puffball and Genocide SS...I could add more but these are the ones that come to mind now!

CC-Don't forget the Dukes of Nothing from England!! I really like their singles , but the best performing artist in Europe and the lowest hard rocker on earth is Tony Scum!!!!!

SS-Shit how could I forgot one of the best things to come from Britain in years? Maybe I don't consider then strict Punk rock you know...they throw some Metal and Sludge so I didn't remembered them. I wish these guys would gave me some tracks and I would immediately release an Ep for them!!

GD- What about Portugal? It doesn't seem a very active country musicwise for what I know... probably I'm all wrong.
SS-it is mostly in the wrong way...my personal faves of the recent/new bands: We were Wolves (horror punk), Brainwashed by Amalia (stoner/psychedelic), Iron Sword (epic power metal), Filli Negratium Infernallium (black/thrash/heavymetal - back on the scene!), Alkateya (80's power metal back on the scene!), Subcaos (my old band back on the scene but now changing the name to Bloodshed Battle - Crust Power Metal!!), Bunny Ranch (garage rock) and basically these are my faves i dont know if i forgot any...well and last but not least, Tony Scum the lowest hardrocker on earth!

CC-Most of the portuguese bands are really shit but I like the No-Counts, Filli , Iron Sword, Alkateya and last but not least Tony Scum!!!!

GD- I know some of you guys is one of the biggest COS/GG Allin collectors in Europe, tell me something more about him and his goodies...
SS-Conin that one's for you!! I collect that stuff but not so obsessively as Conin. Altough I have to admit that I collect everything by Antiseen and The Hookers/R&R Outlaw related. I have always 3/4 different versions of each album by Antiseen and a growing singles collection. Also I've completed the full collection of Cocknoose recently. A few years back I was collecting GG but I gave up now I buy GG once in a while I already have most of the cool stuff (anyone gets me the very first Hookers ep??). Hellstomper are on my list of priorities too!

CC- All over the years I've been collecting all kinds of things not just GG Allin or COS stuff but yes I have a large GG Allin collection, I have all the original singles and lps and lots of videos too. I also have lots of Antiseen singles and c.o.s stuff but what I'm colecting now obsessively is bad metal records from the 80s, most of them are form Germany, I really like bands like Breaker , Carrion , Beast , Blood Money, Mad Axeman etc...

SS-You can hear in some of the new songs some influences of bands like Breaker, Carrion and Living Death. I collect this stuff too, bands like Mad Axeman, Stainless Steel, Breaker, Beast, Killer, Ostrogoth, Cirith Ungol, Manilla Road, Halloween, Living Death, etc. are always worth mentioning

GD- What about Sleazey Records and the No-Counts Doctrine of Mayhem?
SS-That's my label and that's my main band! We're decent folks! Ahahahah!!! What can I say in favour of the No-Counts? GD- Your sound is really close to GG & the Scumfucs, is this a case or you look for a strong similarity?
SS-Conin, what were you thinking when you were making the songs??

CC-I just go to the studio and put the first distortion I find and record all the songs at the first take , maybe GG and the Scumfucs made the same mess that I make hahahahaha!!!! For me the best GG records are with the Jabbers not the Scumfucs anyway!!

GD- What trick are up your sleeves for the upcoming future?
SS-Make this band a secret cult, make Tony Scum president of the Portuguese Outlaw scumfucks and record with dangerous unfriendly people. Stay underground but evolve. Anyway no one in the world could make us stars! We have more Eps coming for 2004! A Samson cover for a NWOBHM tribute for March 2004 in Sleazey records and a football song related to the Euro 2004 taken place in Portugal to be included in a compilation Cd of a Hooligans store here in Lisbon with other Punk/Hc bands.

CC-There also will be 6 new Tony Scum tracks recorded with us.....

GD- Are you ready to be part of the uprising scum forces of Europe to fight against emo fags and rap-metal inbred niggas??
SS-But of course!! When do we take serious action and make our own Euro Confederacy?In Lisbon we've tried for some time to set up this plan!
