MOTOSIERRA IS SPANISH FOR "CHAINSAW", AND WITH THIS YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND THEIR ATTENTION SPAN: FAST, RAWK AS FUCK SONGS DELAING WITH HATE, DRUGS, HOOKERS AND BOOZE. THEY COME FROM URUGUAY AND ARE SOUTH AMERICA'S FIRST AND ONLY INTERNATIONAL PUNK ROCK BAND WITH RECORDS OUT WORLDWIDE. WE REALLY ENJOYED THEIR STUFF AND SO THIS INTERVIEW CAME OUT NATURALLY... I DROPPED SOME QUESTIONS TO GABRIEL, THE BASS PLAYER, WHO WAS KIND ENOUGH TO SHOW ME THAT ALSO WHERE YOU NEVER WOULD EXPECT TO FIND A BAND LIKE THIS YOU CAN ALWAYS HAVE SOME NICE R'N'R SURPRISES...

GD- How did the band get started?

With a lot of problems. Did you ever try to start a band in the third world?? It is crazy, man!! You are getting in troubles for sure!! First you wanna start a band, then you find a bunch of motherfuckers mad enough to follow you and then you spend a long time wondering what are you doing, cause nobody, nobody seems to give a fuck about what you´re trying to do. Because you like, you know, sex and drugs and similar shit and you´re on the wrong side of the world to do this and then you realize you got about 30 years and you want more than beer and 10 US$ every weekend to have some fun, and then you think you aren´t enough rich or famous to have the kind of life you wanna have, and then you blame Keith Richards for being Keith Richards, and the old motherfucker keeps drinking and making money and you never, never gonna be like him but you wanna be like him, and then..

GD- You come from Uruguay, which is a pretty strange place for rock'n'roll, almost in my european eyes. What can you tell me about your country and South America?

Fuck you. Come on and taste some. Uruguay is the wrong place if you wanna rock´n´roll, too much conservative people, mediocre and grey persons but South America is different, Brasil is a place we made two tours and is great big fuckin´carnival overthere, totally opposite to Uruguay, crazy and vicious in all senses. Argentina had a good tradition of rock and they have good club and pubs to play, soon we´ll play for first time in Chile and we ´ll tell you and the other place we wanna go is Mexico.

GD- It seems like you released a lot of records in different countries, can you sum up a brief discography? What about the different versions of your records?

Our first album was originally released in Argentina on Fun Records, then you got the vinyl on Incognito Records with 2 bonus tracks and a deluxe edition. Our second record, "Rules" came our Myrmecoleo Records in Japan and hope it´s gonna be on vinyl soon. Then you got a lot of crap coming from different labels, we got 2 cover albums, "Kick Ass Rock´n´Roll" on No Brains Records in Holland and "Bathroom Days Re-Revisited" on Rastrillo Records in Argentina, a couple of 7" on Bad Attitude in Finland, soon a split album with an Uruguayan band, and a split album with Turbonegro, you know.

GD-Your first album is called XXX... what about porn? Or it was just a matter of punk rock attitude to do?

No, man. We like porn more than punk rock. You don´t??

GD- What about drug use in South America?

All of them are cheaper than in Europe, the most common are marihuana and cocaine but you get what you want. Everybody uses drugs here, from police to the president. This is a very open minded country I think, and we really think that if the States and Europe want drugs, we´re gonna sell them to you!! You wanna get high?? Well, we got the best prices!! A pack of cigars already cost 0,50 euros, so think about coke!! It´s very cheap here!! It´s like paradise!! You should come and enjoy it!!

GD- Do you guys love b-movies? What kind of trash?

Every kind of trash. We're not film critics but when something's good, it's good enough inside and outside the screen. Like Predator or Rambo II.

GD- You covered a lot of bands' songs, between those also GG Allin. What do you think of him and the modern way his myth is portrayed?

GG it´s a weird thing here. Nobody knows him. One day we played in a small town around Montevideo, Uruguay main city, in a cinema. We played some of GG footage on big screen, and there were about 60 guys who never have seen GG alive and everybody starting like "what´s this??" and "I wanna leave now". The guy really made it again, already dead, on a cinema screen in Uruguay, and you have the same kind of reaction, sickness and repulsion if he had been alive. Fuck off the myth, is he a myth?? We don´t know, we like him and we like what he does, and it was very funny too!! It´s the ultimate rock´n´roll terrorist here, there and everywere, and we love it. Fuck off if you think GG Allin it´s cool, eat shit never will be cool enough for your guts.

GD- What about singing half in English and half in your mother-tongue Spanish?

We started doing spanish singed songs, but when we realized that this way we would have never be taken seriously here we started singing in English cause we thought, fuck, let's give 'em something that they can´t understand!! English, It's rock´n´roll language, isn´t it?? Anyway, we don´t give a fuck about the lyrics, it´s just same ol´shit, and hope you can uderstand it in German too!!

GD-What do you think of the Northern American rock'n'roll scene? Don't you feel overshadowed by them, not only musicwise?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Sure it´s worst here, more difficult to keep a band rocking, but we don´t think that the States are focused on rock´n´roll today, in fact the whole world don´t like rock´n´roll today. If you think that rock´n´roll it´s back, well that´s bad news for you now, cause what you have it´s a cliché and a recreation of rock´n´roll and its form but you have no substance now, it´s all media, all circus, and not enough balls, at least in the States. Of course you have great bands there, and here´s nowhere land but talking about attitude times aren´t good for rock bands, or at least for good rock bands. That's a corporative world, so what big media sells it's not the real thing and that's what kids are having now, a kind of rock'n'roll circus who has nothing to do with the fact of starting a band and keeping on rocking as long as you could do it, not only stardom and bullshit. And I'm not talking about a musical scene, it´s a point of view that you could find on the whole youth culture of today. So it´s the same bullshit, less money, less possibilities but the same feeling, at least
that´s what´s real rock´n´roll, being an outsider, isn´t it??

GD- What are the new Motosierra plans?

Take the money and run.

GD- I heard some time ago you were supposed to tour Europe, are you gonna come over or what?

Sure. We´re working on it. Support the band, send money.

GD- Please tell whatever you want to our readers!

We´re gonna kick your ass.
