BLOODY MESS IS AN ICON OF WHAT I LOVE TO CALL "EVIL ROCK'N'ROLL", ONE OF THE FEW PEOPLE ABLE TO KEEP HIS MUSIC DANGEROUS INTO A WORLD OF EVER GROWING MEDIOCRE PUNK ROCK. LONG TIME GG ALLIN FRIEND, ROCKER, OUTLAW HE PERFORMED ALL ACROSS THE USA GIVING PEORIA, IL A BAD NAME. AFTER 20 AND MORE YEARS IN THE UNDERGROUND ROCK BIZ, GARBAGE DUMP IS PROUD TO PRESENT AN INTERVIEW WITH THE MAN, AND READERS, WHAT A MAN WORDS' YOU'LL BE READING!! BUT STOP PRAISING AND HERE WE GO WITH THE SUBSTANCE...

MM- How did you got signed to Black and Blue?
BM- Peter, from Black & Blue Records, contacted me in the late 1980's expressing an interest in my band Bloody Mess & The Skabs. He then put us on The "Music To Make Your Ears Hurt" compilation CD/LP/Cassette. We became friends, because of our mutual friendship with G.G. Allin, and continue to work together to this day! Black & Blue have been very good to me over the years. They've released a bunch of my records, CD's, etc over the years and they recently released the Bloody Mess tribute cd! You can order that and other Bloody releases by going to the Black & Blue website: www.blackandbluerecords.com or e mail: bnbrecords@aol.com
Hopefully, some time this year, Black & Blue will release the BLOODY & THE TRANSFUSIONS album. (my newest band)

MM- When someone talks about Blody Mess they always make a link to GG Allin. I know you partook a lot with GG, and you also had the honour to write the liners for his "You give love a bad name" album... please remember for us some of the past times!
BM- Oh man...we had a lot of crazy things happen. Of course, I was there the first time he shit on stage. (In Creve Couer, Illinois in 1985) He was there, after that show when I was arrested & taken to jail for marijuana possession. (Over a quarter pound...I nearly went to prison) We toured on The Hated In The Nation tour on a Greyhound bus. It was ALWAYS insane. We got along great because we were both crazy & had the same tastes in music. We were both big fans of Tint Tim, too. And Iggy Pop. I remember G.G. & I drinking beer at my apartment once. We sat around all night watching videos of The Rolling Stones & Janis Joplin. Once, he sent me a painting that he did with his own blood & shit. I framed it and put it on my wall. Well...It fell off the wall & the painting came out of the frame & my fucking cat ate it!!! Made me as mad as hell. I remember turning GG onto outlaw country guy David Allan Coe. (Thats where "Outlaw Scumfuc" came fro m!) I also co-wrote "Scars On My Body/Scabs On MY Dick" with him. I also introduced him to John Wayne Gacy.We were friends for a little less than 10 years. I remember he ALWAYS smelled real bad when we hung out...It was a horrible fucking smell, too. I never did get used to it...ha!

MM-Your attitude has always been some of the nastiest around, that's why people always link you with GG. Did this cause some trouble? How the American audiences received your performing?
BM- Yes, its been both a good and a bad thing being linked to G.G. On one hand--a lot more people took me seriously. BUT on the other hand, a lot of ignorant bastards also write me off as a G.G. wanna-be. Nothing could be further from the truth! I've always been worlds different than GG. My personality is much different than his. I have more of a sense of humor than he had, and I never took myself so serious, like he did towards the end of his life. Plus, my stage shows are a lot different than his ever were. I never ever wanted to be like GG. I write about different subjects than he did too. But its okay...Because there will never be another GG....and Im proud to still be alive making music in 2004.

MM- Can you draw me some differences between the old days of punk rock and today?
BM- In the "old days" punk and metal were two different worlds. The two did not cross-over. There were less people into punk then, too. The shows were a lot more fun. Today it seems that punk & metal have become one...Its all mixed up. It all started in 1984 or so when Black Flag released the " My War" album. All of a sudden, punks had long hair & metalheads had short hair, etc... The metal people stole everything from punk rock. The look, the pit, the "moshing" which used to be called slam-dancing & thrashing. They also stole the sounds & names, etc... Its a lot different, but there are still killer underground punk bands out there, such as The Vampirates, Sick, Six Inch Punch, Beautiful Bert & The Slags, Self Destruckt and many more!

MM- What about the song "Empty"? It deals with a serial killer. What is your current outlook on the subject? How did you wrote about that, and what do you think about American murders?
BM- The song "Empty" is one of my more popular songs. Its been covered by a lot of bands and I sing it at every show I do. It wasn't really written about a serial killer. It was written about me. About my state of mind at the time. I was heavily into LSD/Acid at the time, and of course, alcohol. Things were very strange for me in my life & I wrote that tune as a sort of theme. My current outlook on serial killers? The subject bores me. I was friends with quite a few killers but grew bored with it. I believe in capital punishment. If those fuckers are really guilty, they should fucking die. (just like John Wayne Gacy. A worthless liar & coward who killed, but has been executed) For years I was obsessed with serial killers, but like I said, it got boring. And then I started meeting losers who actually think these guys are Gods or innocent. Ha Ha. Fucking fruitcakes. "Empty" is one of my more memorable songs. But so is My Black Little Heart & Hungover & Stoned, and Cigarette On The Clit.

MM- Tell me something about your country project. What are your fave country artists, and why you recorded such a thing?
BM- I actually had more than one country project. First, I released a country 7-inch project. It was called Bloody & The Country Trash Punks. The music on it is fantastic...and I dig the lyrics too...But the vocals could have been better I suppose. I should've waited before I recorded that record, because after it was released I formed a touring outlaw country band called The Renegades. We did over 56 shows & I learned how to sing the country/bluesy stuff. Oh well. Live & Learn I guess. I've always been a fan of OLD country music. Its great shit. My favorites are: David Allan Coe, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Patsy Cline, Lefty Frizzell, Tanya Tucker, Hank Wiliams Jr, and a lot more.

MM- What do you think about the Confederacy of Scum? Don't you feel like you'd deserve to be a member?
BM- I'm independent & wouldn't join the Boy scouts or any Confederacy or whatever it is.

MM- Speaking of GG again, what do you think of today's worshipping for the man? Does this thing help you out a bit playing your music or what? What do you think of Merle Allin?
BM- I think it's great that GG is a legend. He was one of a kind. His legacy lives on forever! The GG thing does not help me out, but a lot of people know of me because of my relationship with GG.
I don't think anything about Merle. He's dead to me.

MM- I heard you would like to come to Europe and tour, can you please tell me something more about this? Are the Transfusions coming with you or what?
BM- Yes--The Transfusions and I would love to come to Europe!!!! We gotta plan it out with time, money,etc...But its possible! I've always wanted to play there. we shall see.

MM- Sorry If I insist on this, but what is the problem with the CoS and Merle Allin? Is it just like you are independent and you don't care, or did you have some personal issue with them? (PS: you can also not answer to this one if you don't want, but I'm interested)
BM- The truth is, I used to get along with some of the C.O.S. bands AND Merle. But after they started talking shit about me, I decided I didn't need friends like that. And a lot of the bands that belong to the C.O.S. sound the same. The vocals are all gravelly & shit. Besides, a lot of those bands bore me and are way too macho for my musical tastes. I'm a lot more diverse and don't like being a member of a club anyway. No need for that.I never had ANY personal issues with any of them, but they all talk the shit so FUCK THEM. (not all of the C.O.S. bands--but quite a few whom I won't mention) Like I said, I'm independent and not into the macho crap anyway.

MM- Can you tell me more about the Transfusions? What is your kind of style? Do you feel like playing like the old Bloody Mess stuff or do you see an evolution?
BM- The Transfusions are my favorite band so far! A cool group of guys that enjoy doing crazy ass live performances, and they're my friends. We've done about 6 or 7 shows so far & so far we're getting GREAT response! We play a weird mixture of punk, rock-n-roll, hard rock & a little twisted country stuff. PLUS, we do lots of cool punk covers in our set by bands such as GG Allin & The Jabbers, Johnny Thunders & The HeartBreakers, The Dead Boys,The Germs, Plasmatics and a lot more. We play a lot of my old songs too, from The Skabs & The Vaynes. We are currently working on a new album, which will be released on Black & Blue Records hopefully this year! I'm always writing new songs. A couple of the new ones are, "A Dyke Named Mike" and "The Smackdown". (which I wrote while on heroin recently). The Transfusions are: Billy The Kid on drums, Lincoln on the Bass & we had Johnny G-String on guitar but as of this interview, we are looking for a new guitar player, & I think we already found him. We are trying out a guy named Dave Moe and are pretty sure he's gonna fit right in with the band. He's a great guitarist. Either way-the show MUST go on!

MM- I've read somewhere that people considered your stage performance like a GG Allin's rip-off. Have you ever been into cutting yourself open, or stuff like that? Can you tell me some crazy thing happened during your shows? What do you think about the fact people still don't want to recognize violence and extreme behaviors as fundamental parts of punk rock?
BM- People who say that are full of shit & fucking liars. I was using the name Bloody Mess before I ever met GG Allin. I do not cut myself on stage & I use a lot of humor in my shows. GG didn't do that. Our stage shows are NOTHING like each others. What a joke. Just cause I hung with GG I got labelled a GG wanna-be. Its a COMPLETE bunch of shit and anyone that has seen me "live" cant say Im a rip-off of anybody. At least I'm still alive & not stupid enough to fucking overdose. Dying young is for pussies. Yes, in the past, and sometimes I still get fucking crazy as shit onstage...but NOTHING like GG. Onstage, I've set my hair on fire, pissed, gotten naked & gotten banned...But its NEVER been planned and I certainly do not do it at every show. I like being unpredictable.

MM- How much sex was important in your songwriting? Have you had any strange or funny sexual experience on or off-stage?
BM- Sex is always important to me...A lot of my songs are written about sex. Songs such as: Motion Lotion, Gay Party Favorite, etc... I've gotten naked onstage...I lived with a prostitute for years in the 1980's & have done just about anything you can think of sexually. Sex is normal & natural. I'm married now & my wife is hot. So these days I stick with her and it's definately satisfying. I used to have different women every night, and have gotten sexually transmitted diseases because of it. Of course, I never caught anything I couldn't get rid of. I'll tell you this: The first time I ever had sex was when I was 13 years old, and the girl was 17. And the first time I fucked I GOT CRABS!!! Talk about shitty luck. HA! I even wrote a song in my old band (HATE) called, "Crabs On My Balls". So, I've been a very sexual person...and still am!

MM- I think you have always deserved more honours than the ones you got. Looking back at your early days into music, what would you change, or critic about the scene and yourself? What are the differences between old and today's Bloody Mess?

BM- I wouldn't change much. I guess I would've toured more. But everytime I toured I ended up so fucked up on drugs & booze that my voice would get ruined. I think I probably would die if I were to do a really long tour. I've always been excessive, though. The old Bloody was really into getting wasted a lot and every day. But after spending time in jails, mental hospitals & detox units, I decided to get my shit together to stay alive longer. I still party my ass off, but only a couple times a month. We only do 2 shows per month, & that's when I do my drugs/boozing. The hangovers really suck as you get older & I fucking HATE hangovers. We did a show 2 weeks ago & I ended up sick as hell. It was the worst hangover I've ever had. Too much puke for me. Ha.

MM- What about the tribute CD recently released on Black & Blue? A lot of the bands included are unknown to me, and a lot also don't deal with punk nor rock no way. Who compiled it, and what do you think about the final result?
BM- I'm very flattered by the Tribute CD & I love it!! It was compiled by my friends Ede G & Mister Void. I LOVE the fact that not all the bands are the same 3-chord punk sound. That would be boring & besides, the original versions were punk as fuck. So, yes, I dig the tribute CD & love the fact that EDE G & Mister Void honored my name in such a way. I love those guys! Check out their website: www.fireatwillrecords.com Also, you can order the Bloody tribute CD from: www.blackandbluerecords.com The CD has 23 covers of my songs, and 2 new ones from me! BM- Look for the Bloody & The Transfusions CD sometime in 2004! Black & Blue Records are still supporting me & Cheers to Peter Yarmouth for being such a good friend for all these years.
