Show prospect puppies:

Prices for the puppies depend on a variety of factors, including the breed (Yorkies are more expensive than Malinois due to the small litter size and costs involved in caesarian section, etc), the parentage of the puppies and the quality of the puppies (pet quality cost less than show quality). If you are interested in a puppy from a particular litter, I will discuss confirmed cost once the litter has been whelped and evaluated. Prior to this I can only give you an estimate. I will not ship puppies, due to the risks involved. However, for people living in the Southeast, the dog show schedule usually allows for some mutually argeeable pickup point to be arranged.

Please remember that adopting a dog who will be a companion for the next 10-15 years is not a time to bargin shop. Dogs that may cost less initially (particularly those from puppy mill environments) may cost more in the long run due to health problems and possible genetic diseases. Please do you research and buy a dog from a reputable breeder.

I am located in the Southeast and know many breeders in this area that I would recommend. For people living outside this area, your local kennel club may be able to provide you with some names of more local breeders. Going to a dog show is also a great way to meet breeders and see a variety of breeds.

Several special notes about Yorkies. First, yorkie litters tend to be quite small, one or two is not unusual, five is considered big. Second, the demand for female yorkie puppies is far greater than for males. If you have your heart set on a female yorkie puppy, you will likely have to contact many breeders before finding someone who has a female available. If you really want a female, consider adopting an adult female from rescue or an older bitch that is done showing or won't be used for breeding or inquire about getting on a waiting list for a female puppy.

Please be aware that the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America code of ethics states that: "All puppies leaving the breeder's possession will be a minimum of twelve (12) weeks of age to facilitate adequate socialization as well as appropriate emotional and temperament development through interaction with siblings, dam and other dogs." Therefore, be aware that reputable breeders will not allow the puppies to go to new homes at a younger age.

For Yorkshire Terriers you can also contact one of the local Yorkshire Terrier specialty clubs, who also provide breeder referral. A list of Yorkshire Terrier specialty clubs can be found here.

The American Belgian Malinois Club's Breeder referral list can be found here. This is a list of breeders who are members of the ABMC and have signed their code of ethics. For those considering a Malinois, please do not overlook adult dogs. Due to an increase in popularity, there are now more rescued Malinois than there are homes for them. For more information about rescued dogs available for adoption go here for a list of ABMC rescue contacts and here for a list of available rescue dogs.
