Astrology is a belief that events in the heavens relate to daily events on Earth. The history of the word Astrology is from the Greek word 'Astro' for star and 'logos' for divine law. Astology tries to find the influence of astronomical objects on human life.

Astrology began as a means of predicting the fate or health of entire socities. Astrologers tried to predict seasonal weather patterns as well. The earliest horoscopes were not for individuals, but were for predicting the future of whole kingdoms.

The beginnings of modern astrology came from the Roman empire. After Rome became an autocracy, the emporer Augustus put the zodiac sign of his birht on his coins. Seeing that, many influential citizens of Rome wanted astrologers to make zodiacal predictions for them. Over the new two centuries, "personal astrology" spread throughout the Roman empire. Today personal horoscopes are popular.
