Manual 20v AE101s have one of two gearboxes fitted. Models built from 1991.6 to 1993.5 were fitted with a C52 gearbox. Models built from 1993.6 to1995.5 were fitted with a C56. The difference between the two is revised ratios for 3rd and 4th gear. These ratios can be seen in the table below. The C56 was also carried through to the AE111 and a helical LSD was made an option at this time. A 6-Speed gearbox was introduced in 1997.4 and was produced until 2000.7. The 6-Speed is known as a C160 and was also available with a helical LSD.
