This beautiful and wistful tune was written for the movie,"Breakfast At Tiffany's". It was to be sung by the character of "Holly Golightly" (Audrey Hepburn). The original title Mercer had chosen for this melody was "Blue River." He discovered, however, that a song by the same name..an unsuccessful one at that...had been composed earlier by a friend. Not wanting to risk offending anyone, he changed the word "Blue" to "Moon." The choice was pure magic. Despite the fact that the current rage in music was rock n roll, "Moon River" won the Academy Award as Best Film Song of 1961. "Moon River" has become the signature song of singer Andy Williams. Williams even named his theater in Branson,Missouri "The Moon River Theater." |

Lyrics
Moon River, wider than a mile I'm crossing you in style someday Old dreammaker, you heartbreaker, Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world There's such a lot of world to see We're after the same rainbow's end Waiting round the bend My Huckleberry friend Moon River and me |
