AlAlthough bandleader-composer Jones wrote this perennial hit with Gus Kahn in 1924, it became a "current" hit again in 1944 after appearing in the Eddie Cantor-George Murphy movie "Show Business". There was a ban on new recording that year, but RCA reissued an Earl Hines recording that had been made in 1941, and it became a bestseller. The song has been used in no less that 40 feature-length films plus dozens of shorts! |

Lyrics
It had to be you, It had to be you, I wandered around and finally found the somebody who.. Could make me be true, could make me be blue, And even be glad, just to be sad, thinking of you
Some others I've seen Might never be mean Might never be cross or try to be boss But they wouldn't do
For nobody else gave me a thrill With all your faults I love you still It had to be you Wonderful you Had to be you.. |
