Song No. 44  "Stella by Starlight" ~Words by Ned Washington Music by Victor Young~ "The Uninvited" was a 1944 film starring Ray Milland, Ruth Hussey and Gail Russell--and one beautiful musical theme by Victor Young. In discussing the theme with lyricist Washington, Young identified it as "Stella by Starlight," referring to a character in the film and the photography of the sequence it accompanied. Ned stayed with Young's title but found that there was just one place in the lyric where he could make it fit.
