Song No. 44 "Stella by Starlight" ~Words by Ned Washington Music by Victor Young~ "The Uninvited" was a 1944 film starring Ray Milland, Ruth Hussey and Gail Russell--and one beautiful musical theme by Victor Young. In discussing the theme with lyricist Washington, Young identified it as "Stella by Starlight," referring to a character in the film and the photography of the sequence it accompanied. Ned stayed with Young's title but found that there was just one place in the lyric where he could make it fit. Lyrics The song a robin sings Through years of endless springs The murmur of a brook at eventide That ripples by a nook where two lovers hide A great symphonic theme That's Stella by Starlight And not a dream My heart and I agree She's everything on earth to me Back to Ginger's Piano Place/Song List ..Page 2 Back to Ginger's Piano Place/Homepage |
