This beautiful melody is from the film "Calamity Jane" starring Doris Day as the heroine and Howard Keel as "Wild Bill" Hickok. The film had many energetic numbers but only one romantic piece, "Secret Love." This ballad was a 1953 Oscar winner and a top-selling recording by Doris Day. It was the most enduring item in the film score. |

Lyrics
Once I had a Secret Love That lived within the heart of me All too soon my Secret Love Became impatient to be free
So I told a friendly star The way that dreamers often do Just how wonderful you are And why I'm so in love with you
Now I shout it from the highest hill Even told the golden daffodils At last my heart's an open door And my secret love's not secret any more.
