"I'll Walk Alone" was originally made famous by Dinah Shore. The song is from the film "Follow the Boys" (1944). It received the Academy Award nomination for best song in 1944. Many also recall the song from the 1952 film, "With A Song In My Heart". This was the story of singer Jane Froman. Froman was portrayed by Susan Hayward .Hayward dubbed Jane's songs for the film. "I'll Walk Alone" was "sung" by Susan during a very poignant moment in the film when a young shell-shot soldier (played by Robert Wagner) asked Jane (Susan) to sing the song. It was one of the most touching and memorable moments of the film.

Lyrics
I'll Walk Alone because to tell you the truth, I'll be lonely I don't mind being lonely When my heart tells me you Are lonely too
I'll Walk Alone, they'll ask me why and I'll tell them I'd rather There are dreams I must gather Dreams we fashioned the night You held me tight
I'll always be near you, wherever you are Each night..in every prayer If you call, I'll hear you No matter how far Just close your eyes and I'll be there
Please walk alone and send your love and your kisses to guide me Till your're walking beside me I'll Walk Alone..
