Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21, 1685 in Eisenach, Germany. He died on July 28, 1750. His compositional media included orchestra, chamber music, keyboard, and choral. He was the most important composer of the early 1700's. He developed the style of contrapuntal writing to its zenith. He is most famous for sacred cantatas, St. Matthew and St. John Passions, and the B-minor Mass, as well as keyboard works (Well -Tempered Clavier and two and three part inventions.)
