The Differant Styles of Martial Arts
(If you are not familiar with then already, so you know what's what)
KARATE -
Meaning - Empty Hands
Accurate, powerful punches, strikes, kicks & defense moves, such as parrying and foot manuevers.

Shotokan - A Japanese system of karate developed by Gichin Funakoshi

Tae Kwon Do - A Korean system  of karate that concentrates mostly on kicks and linear motion.

Tang So Do - Another Korean sytem of karate that gives China its respects.

Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate - An American style of karate that features techniques that are practical and logical.

JUDO -
Meaning  - The Gentle Way
Wresling moves, like throwing an opponent or pulling him off balance. They require more skill then actual streagth.

AKIDO -
Moves that apply pressure to an opponents weak spots, to use an opponents force against him.

KUNG FU -
A "Hard" style
Close sparring  that features complex blocking techniques and defense moves

JU JIT SU -
A "Softer" style martial art
Features moves involving breaking, spraining, twisting & dislocating Grapppling is also a part of the art.

STREET FIGHTER -
Usually an individual without any formal training who fights without ethics. Anything goes, including weapons, if needed to be assured of victory. However, there are skilled, strong streetfighters with formal training, its just not as common.

STREET FREESTYLE -
Kenpo stylists who are streetfighters with formal training. Rules do not exist in such encounters.

TERMS

CHI or KI in Japanese
A term used to describe the state of body and mind when one acheives maxium force of his body. It involves total and complete sychronization of mind, breath, and streagth to acheive maxium focus. It is the extra inner force created by this percise sychronization. ( NOT lasers & beams like in the movie)

MASTER KEY MOVE - A single move that can be used in more then one predicament  with equal effect.
