Subject: From the FHS class of 1964

Hi, this is Linda Segrest Brown from the class of 1964. Mike and I are on the reunion
committee and are looking for Carla Woods. We have gotten nowhere and are hoping
that you might know something about her sister Wanda Woods, so we can trace Carla
backwards! Any information you might have about married names or previous addresses
or any close friends would be gratefully appreciated!

Many, many thanks!
Linda

FOREVER PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN

French High School Class of 1963 Memorial Page

I was told when I first began thinking about doing a class web site that the most
difficult part would be the Memorial Page. I have found that to be true. I think it's
important to pause for a few moments and reflect on friends who have passed
away. Sadly, it's a list that continues to grow.

Classmates with known addresses

Classmate Activities - - - Photo Pages

Loads of pages here with lots of pictures. Many are of events during our 40th.
class reunion I saw a number of nice camera's being use. Maybe you have
some pictures that you'd like to share with us.

Be sure to check these out !!! It's an opportunity to see what some of
our classmates have been up to.

Cynthia Whitfield Duerer

Cynthia sent some good pictures of our grandchildren. The big kid in the
last picture is just a neighborhood teen taking a break from work after
Hurricane Ike.

Hattie Jo Oaks Hill

Hattie Jo Oaks Hill sent this to a classmate who was kind enough to
pass it along. Seems her Grandson Connor is a pretty smart kid.
Figured we'd give Jodi a little bragging room. It's short so take a look.

Annual Pictures

I have heard from a number of classmates who either never had or don't
currently have access to their annuals. It was suggested that adding
some of those pictures would be something classmates would like
to see again.

Back In Our Day ... pictures of our youth

PLEASE ! PLEASE ! If you have any early school or class pictures, or
activities consider sharing them. Just scan the picture and send it by email or
contact me and I will come and borrow it long enough to scan. I am certain
others would enjoy seeing them.

I THINK THIS IS AWESOME ! ! !

This was sent to me by a dear friend and fellow FHS Alumni. As soon as I listened to it
I knew I had to share with others. I have forwarded it to a number of different people.
But I had to go one step farther and post it here too. Please take the time to listen to it
at least once.

BORN AGAIN AMERICAN

* * * * * *

I have no idea how many of our classmates use YouTube. Until recently I didn't.
At least I didn't use it on a regular basis. But that has all changed. I've found that it's
a great place to hear any song you want to hear. There's probable a lot of them not
there, but so far I haven't found any and I have been looking.

A Genealogy Bug !!

I have been one of those odd people who go through cemeteries looking for information on headstones. A good number of years ago I got started on a little genealogy research project. Boy was that a laugh. There isn't any such animal. Genealogy is something you will either lover or hate. I found I loved it. I spent may long boring hours at the Terrell Historical Library downtown and more hours tramping through cemeteries all over Southeast Texas and Mississippi. It becomes so addictive that when you find a new piece of the puzzle it's a thrill; a true feeling of accomplishment. However, after a number of years of butting my head against stone walls and marble headstones I got burned out. I simple walked away, glancing back only occasionally. Then here comes Martha Sawyer Peveto's wonderful work. Her books on the Sawyer family history are very interesting. Sure, there is the usually born and died information but there is soooo much more. At any rate she motivated me to renewing my quest. I will eventually put her link in the classmates link area but for now I am listing it here. It seems that some are actually reading this portion of the site.

Martha says in her emails to " Check out my Sawyer/Shelton family history site at

SAWYER/SHELTON FAMILY HISTORY

or

Read my books at:

SAWYERS OF SMITHVILLE

and

SAWYERS OF BUCKNER'S CREEK

or

buy the e-book version of my books at:

MARTHA'S STORE FRONT

I recently received this cool link. I was quit pleased to see all the different sites You can access from it. Since much of material is copy righted, I am not listing the individual links. I really do believe if you take the time to check them out you will find something you'll really enjoy. But remember, it's someone else's web site, I am just letting you in. I especially enjoy the selection, " That Ragged Old Flag. "

Old Forty Fives FHS

Personally, I'm really sorry that we didn't have a 45 year reunion. Maybe there will still be a lot of us around for the 50th. One thing that we do need is a true reunion committee and not just the volunteer informal group that we have been using in the past. We also need to know what classmates are looking for in a reunion . . . . . . These are just some passing thoughts

It's so easy to lose contact with our FHS friends. The reasons are too numerous
to mention but the simple truth is we do not see each other enough and some of you we
haven't seen since graduating. This web site is one way we can keep in touch.

As you look at the different pages hopefully you will find a place full of memories as well
as a place where you can see what is currently happening.

I'm Ronny Eller and I can be contacted at ... txron@hotmail.com ... I would only ask
that you include " FHS " somewhere in the Subject. In that way, it shouldn't get deleted.

Pictures From Around Town

Some of these pictures are by request. If there is someplace not pictured
that you would like to see please let me know. If it's possible I'll get
it for you.

Jefferson County Courthouse In Pictures

For you history "BUFF'S" take a look at the pictures of the different buildings
used as the The Jefferson County Courthouse in Beaumont, Texas.

.... Oh, By The Way ....

If you are interested in knowing about Beaumont, the best book
on the subject was written by a couple of French High School
Graduates. " BEAUMONT A CHRONICALE of PROMISE " was written by
Judith Walker Linsley & Ellen Walker Rienstra.

He Will Be

Just click play and sit back and enjoy. This was sent to me by a classmate
who asked we put it on the site. It is not ours, so if you click the "home"
at the end it will take you someplace else. Just use your own back
space at the top of your screen.

Area Links

Best Weather Link I have seen, it has everything !! In addition there are
links to just about anything Beaumont you can think of.

Randy Welborn Pictures

Take time to look through Randy Welborn's web site and the neat pictures
of places we all remember. But more than that, learn about the pictures and
what great lengths he went to make them so realistic.
IF YOU SKIP THIS I PROMISE, IT'S YOUR LOSS !!!

FRENCH HIGH SCHOOL ONLINE CLASS-REUNION

I can not say enough about Maribeth's FABULOUS French High School Web Site. Her On Line Class Reunion has done every French High School Alumni a great service. Through it a wonderful school is remembered and many old friends have reconnected. I feel honored to be affiliated, in even the smallest way, with the wonderful work she has done. So, on behalf of all FHS Alumni, I am happy to say
" Thank you Beth for caring so much about FHS !!! "

ALSO .... Her contributions to the site you are now looking at is also greatly appreciated. She has helped take the crumbled ruins of my old site and turn it into a place that hopefully friends and Alumni will be able to enjoy. My personal and very sincer thanks to you, Maribeth. You are a wonderful friend.
