elena bajo's newest collaborative piece, in which she performs along with sister delia bajo, video-camera and photography by brainard carey, with text intervention/ linguistic lash-up by adrian lucas. "london" represents another of her attempts to unbridge the worlds of art and fashion, using a post-digital approach to reality, exploring the senseless through the sensual. The improvised encounter of two women's bodies, the draping, the layering and unlayering, the scouring for discarded cloth (emotions), the embracing of imperfections, the welcome to chaos, and as bajo says: "we wanted to use immediacy, unrehearsed performance, to filter intellectual input, we used a very primal approach, like making love, where senses take over, trusting our instincts, getting messy, losing control, to loosen up and being able to communicate in the same wave, trying to unlayer our other self , the unknown one ". "london", a visual presentation of 'human crashes' and, borrowing words from Donna J. Haraway : " it is a breakdown which provoques a space of possibility, precisely because things don't work smoothly anymore". by Ann Ripoll |
