Curt's Artistry

Bundini Brown offered me $100 and a pair of Ali's boxing shoes for this painting. It's hanging on the wall in our living room.

The lovely southern belle Susan (Reed) Doyle.

My attempt at conveying some of Susan's beauty.

This picture does not do justice to the painting I did of Julianne McNamara. In the close up, she holds the rose that was bred and named in her honor by the people of Holland. Julianne was only the second American woman to have a rose named after her (some president's wife was first). I gave the painting to her while she was in training in California (at the SCATS club) in the early 80's. America's Sweetheart, Mary Lou Retton. When I gave her this painting in Houston shortly after the Olympics, she flashed that incomparable Mary Lou smile and gave me an unforgettable hug.

One of the country's premier gymnastics centers and clubs is located in my hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania. I have been a friend and follower of the Allentown Parkettes for many years, though because of the physical distance that now separates us, I no longer regularly watch practices or attend exhibitions and meets. I've done dozens of paintings of Parkettes and have included photographs of some of them below. The pictures are not of high quality. I didn't have a good camera when they were taken (some 15-20 years ago) and the paintings were all given to the gymnasts.

I used to be an avid baseball fan. Here are a few of the paintings of players I did.

I've also painted a mural on a wall in Eric's room of Formula 1 racing champion, Michael Schumacher. A photo of this can be found with our 1996 newsletter.
