Hmmmmmm...I saw this movie a while ago in the theaters. I was embarrassed, to answer your question. A big kid surrounded by lots of little kids screaming "Pika Pika!" Wait, I think I was screaming "Pika Pika" too. Disregard my comment, ok? No one would go with me to this movie, (hmph, pokemon is for all ages!) so I was in the movie theater by myself. :( Anyway, the mini movie comes on and it's called Pikachu's vacation. It consists of the pokemon running around a pokemon park by themselves and getting into lots of mischief. And in between scenes we have pokemon dancing around and doing things. (Magnemite, magnemite, magnemite etc.) It is very irritating. But after the cute short is over, I think, "Hey, they was a cute and kind of neat." Then the real movie comes on. Mew 2 strikes back, it's called. It opens with a cool pokemon battle and then we have lots of garbage about Mew 2 making clones that are stronger than real pokemon and taking over the world. Very original... Then we have the cute Mew who is the only one can stop Mew 2's madness. Let me tell you, I did not enjoy Mew 2 strikes back, at all! It just wasn't good. This movie is intended for kids, and I wanted to see a fun lighthearted pokemon adventure, instead, I get this incredibly dark and pretty scary pokemon movie. Mew 2 is really mean and he is just too scary for little kids. Another thing that I didn't like about this movie was the fighting. I mean, there is none. Ok there is fighting, but it isn't trainer commanded battles. They consist of the pokemon and their pokemon clones slapping or biting each other. It was awful. I also love how Misty says, "Pokemon shouldn't be fighting, not like this." It seems I didn't want to see them fight like that either. I do however, think that the fight between Mew 2 and Mew at the end is very cool. The art is all right. It's a little different from the TV show but it is nothing special. They blend computer-generated backgrounds with the movie and it works pretty well. I did like the music. They picked some really good songs that fit the movie nicely. Vitamin C's, Vacation and the end theme are a few notables. So anyway, the voices for the characters are the same as the T.V. show, so no complaints there. The story isn't even that bad, it's just not original. I mean it was a good idea but it was executed poorly. Like I said, my major gripes with this movie are that it is too dark and scary. I also don't like the fighting in this movie. When the pokemon and the pokemon clones run into each other like a full scale war and start smacking each other, I found it to be upsetting and very lame. Had the darkness been turned down and if the movie had more trainer-controlled battles, I might've recommended this, but I can't recommend this movie. It's lame and quite predictable too. I recommend watching Pokemon 2000 instead of this, or better yet just see pokemon 3. It's at least 50 times better than this junk. Both of them are much better Pokemon movies and much cooler than this crap. I remember saying after the movie, "That was stupid." |
