Suitable for ages 14 and up. Mild violence and sexually suggestive things, as well as robotic nudity. Viewed on VHS 3 episode long OVA series.

The front of the movie says, "Plug her in and she'll turn you on!" Ignore it. This is not a hentai, porno flick in any way. My Dear Marie is a 3 episode romantic comedy series. It's a cute series about a scrawny, nerdy, wimpy, loser (yeah that about describes him) named Hiroshi who is a mad scientist. He has this crush on a gorgeous girl in his tennis club named Marie. Knowing that he will never be able to get with Marie, he builds an android Marie, that ::gasp:: looks exactly like Marie. (Except the robotic Marie has red hair and the real Marie has purple hair) Well, the robotic Marie turns out to have complications. She's more independent and self-conscious than Hiroshi intended her to be. The android Marie questions who she is, why she is here and why she looks like that girl over there! Of course, our robotic Marie meets the real Marie and we have some crazy, yet humorous complications between the real Marie, her boyfriend and a bully girl who has a crush on Hiroshi. (?!?!) It's crazy! Anyway, the first episode deals with the creation of Marie and meetings between the real and fake Marie. The second episode deals with a bully girl who has a crush on Hiroshi. She finds out that Marie is an android and we have some fighting going on between the android Marie and the bully girl. The last episode is just crazy. It deals with Marie's dreams. (Some of the weirdest dreams I've ever seen) She has dreams about her reality, fighting in a robotech mech and bondage (!) (It's funny bondage though. Wait bondage can't be funny. Ok it's bondage in a humorous sort of way.) She also dreams of a tennis ball with very sharp teeth. Ok, that's the episodes. They are all really good and very enjoyable. The only problem is that the series is only 90 minutes long. It's way too short. Although, I was pretty satisfied at the end of the series, I still felt a little cheated because we will never know what happened. The end by the way left me in shock. It was something that I would never, ever expect in a million years. It left me a little confused too.

The art and animation is very nice and it is very bright and pleasing to look at. I especially love the character designs. They are very nice, even if they look too skinny and have very large ears. The music is pretty good. It fits the action nicely but it isn't that memorable. I have only seen the subbed version so I can't comment on the dubbing. I do love the previews for the next episodes because they feature a deformed mega cute Marie taking some spazes and slamming a table with a fan about the next episodes. It's really funny. I definitely recommend this anime for everyone. While it's not hentai it does have a few naughty parts, with some sexual innuendo, nudity when the robotic Marie needs to be repaired, a woman trying to seduce a man (when does that ever happen?) and a scene of brief violence. My guess is that this movie would be rated a very high PG-13 (although that might be pushing it.) but it would most likely be a very low R. I would recommend this for teenagers above the age of 13 and all adults, boys and girls; it will appeal to everyone. I say you should buy this if you are in the mood for a romantic comedy that isn't very sappy. Guys and girls can both enjoy this movie, as it has a perfect balance of comedy, drama, and even a fight scene. If you hate romance or comedy (shame on you) and only like pure bloody guts and action then you won't like this. However, I think that everyone will like this. I enjoyed this and got quite a few laughs from this movie. Buy it for some laughs and a good time.
