Is this movie a porno? I thought it was. Usually, I can deal with sex in anime. Most animes usually have a scene of nudity or sex but this movie just goes overboard. Whoa, there must have been at least six sex scenes about four of them graphic rape scenes. Jeez, who was writing this movie, horny teenage boys? I suppose the sex was added to keep the atmosphere of the movie dark, gritty, disturbing and immoral. However, it was just too graphic and abundant.

Let's move on to the story. Wicked City is about a place where two worlds exist. The main world that we live in and the black world in which demons and humans that are not quite human reside. A peace treaty must be signed in order to keep the peace between the black world and the real world, however, some black world people and demons don't want to see the peace treaty exist and will do anything to destroy it. Taki, a buff and manly agent is assigned to protect a perverted yoda like old guy named Miyart along with a sexy black world agent named Makei. Miyart is a key factor in the signing of the treaty and black world rebels would like to see him dead. I do like this movie. It's cool. It has a good plot and a nice setup. Taki and Makei are from two different worlds that aren't even allowed to communicate. Although, the story is cool, I would've liked it to be more developed. The story just doesn't seem to reach it's full potential because so many sex scenes bog it down.

I like the action scenes a lot. They are very cool but I would've liked to see a few more. The characters are ok. They just don't have enough personality and could have been developed better. Taki is stereotyped as the macho man hero. Makei is supposed to be tough with a callous attitude. I liked her at first. She has an awesome set of killer electric red fingernails, but she is captured and raped so many times, I lost faith in her. Miyart or Yoda, was funny at first. His perverted comments are actually funny for the first half an hour of the film, but they start to get repetitive and annoying towards the last hour of the film.

Anyway, the atmosphere is dark and gritty. I like it a lot. The whole movie seems to be in a dark blue tone, which really adds to the film's atmosphere. The demons are cool too and very nasty. The spider lady who has some very, very razor sharp teeth in an area I won't mention is very cool. I love the ending of the movie. It's a complete unexpected twist and gives you a few messages against prejudice and racism as well. The art and animation are great, as I said previously, as they create a wonderful dark atmosphere. The music does the job, but it is forgettable. The dubbing is also pretty good but seems to get corny in a few areas. But those god-awful sex scenes, they just hamper this movie so much. None of them are tastefully done. They are just smut to provide some service to all the guys watching this movie. I mean really........ they are just so dirty. However, the movie is cool and it is fun to watch. It would probably be rated NC-17 because of all the sex talk, sex scenes and some graphic violence. I would've liked the movie better if the plot was developed better, the sex was cut down and the sex talk was abated I recommend a rental if you like demon anime and are mature enough to handle it.
