Where do I come from? I'm sure you've heard of it. Everybody has. It's a small American town like the towns that authors, poets, painters, movie screenwriters, and others have created over the years. Yet it's as unique as a snowflake. It's kind of like the picturesque village of Santa Rosa from the film, "Shadow of a Doubt." I'm sure it's similar to Hawkeye Pierce's beloved hometown Crabapple Cove, spoken of in the TV series "M*A*S*H." Maybe it's like that small town where you used to visit Grandma and Grandpa. A place where daybreak was cool in summer, with the yellow sun peeking through morning mists to wake and warm you. Climbing red Blaze roses with velvet petals scented the air around the front porch, with its white-washed trellises and that great old creaky porch swing. You found exciting things there, like old water pumps that sometimes produced water, or sometimes housed cranky bees. |
It's the boring place you couldn't wait to leave when you grew up, but you dream about with fondness now that you have. |
The name of my hometown is Franklin, Kentucky. It's located along interstate I-65, between Bowling Green (from the Everly Brothers' song, home of the Corvette and the Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers) and Nashville, Tennessee (Music City, home of the Tennessee Titans NFL team). Come on in for a visit. Enter the city limits here. |
Take a look at the countryside in Franklin, while you're here. * |
