December 1: Dog and Dates

Three-hour jetlag be darned, I woke up early eager to see Sailor. We got over to the kennel by 9. He was, predictably, delighted to see us. Not only does he not hold a grudge, but as Rich pointed out, he apologized.
He surprised me by not doing his little victory "I'm HOME!" run through the house, the one that knocks over lamps and tears slashes in the carpet and endangers unwary human legs. Instead, he had to dash outside to go to the bathroom.
Later we took him on a run and he took at least 5 more bathroom breaks. It's almost like he held it just for us. He was funny on the run. He just sails over the bushes and through the tall grass, running for the heck of it. If he chances to spot a jackrabbit, that's fine, but he doesn't need an excuse. He just LOVES running!

I gained 4 pounds on that little trip, which was hardly surprising considering the food and the television. This walk is a little over 3 miles, but it shows willing.

There were something like 10 palm fronds down which either our friend or our neighbor had stacked for us. The neighbor picked up the weekend newspapers, too, so I wonder if the house-sitting neighbor is feeling all right. I think I'll pick up the key as soon as we get the pictures back, the ones of her son-the-Pitt professor! My plants were all fine, in excellent shape. There was a terrible windstorm earlier this week, and the dates were carpetting the driveway. However, we can look up and see that no dates have fallen, as the fruitstalks are still dark with them. Rich cleaned this up, and I did laundry and unpacked, and cooked spaghetti.

I also played with the scanner, nicely working now at my own machine. (It's also got a new modem, which seems to work better.) November 19 is posted now, in which the dog escapes and I show the world's funniest bumper sticker. (They have t-shirts now.)
