November 26: Thanksgiving

This is a good day to describe the nuts and bolts of every day. We would wake up and shower, watch CNN, etc. and then we walked a block to the Denny's. The second day in I had discovered that if we waved a motel key, we would get a 10% discount. There's a 7-11 on the way where we got the New York Times and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. We'd read these over breakfast, then walk back to the room and either hang out there or get ready to go to the day's events. On Thanksgiving, this meant staying in the room and watching the Macy's parade to stay out from underfoot at the in-laws'.

At the inlaws', it was Football as Usual, at least till Paul arrived from New York. I finished my book, so I drove back to the motel for another. (This was the only time I drove the car: Rich had been having problems with the key, and so did I, and this kept Frank away from the game for a few minutes while I fiddled with it, trying to get the car started.) While I was at the motel, I turned on the TV and caught the last 15 minutes of General Hospital, to my delight. It was an old show (1981) of Luke and Laura's wedding. It was great to see all the old actors way-back-when.

The gourds and corn were brought by us, but I also like the seasonal picture. Carol and Mom set a nice table.

I was amused at dinner (which was during half-time: the rules are different at my house. Here the TV goes OFF for dinner and the daddy has to pay attention to the family) because suddenly they all remembered to say grace. Paul brings this out in them.

Clockwise from 12: Paul, Mom, Carol, Ed, Rich, Frank (who has the best view of the TV. It was halftime.)

After dinner, we all continued to hang out, then Rich and I left about 9 or 10.
