We were in England when Armstrong stepped out of the capsule. I woke the girls at 3 in the morning
to watch the television coverage. "Watch this. It's something you'll remember all your life."
Do the girls remember? I just asked them. Monica says she certainly doesn't, and suggests
that at 26 months, she probably wouldn't. Oh, yeah, huh. Roni does, vaguely, and her
reaction to Nixon's resignation (which I also sat them down in front of) was "oh, no, not
again."
Oh, well, at least I tried. I know I will remember it all my life.
William Safire wrote on what might have been. Despite the Apollo I disaster, I was sure the astronauts would return safely.
Speaking of Apollo I and Gus Grissom, it's exciting getting the Liberty Bell 7 up.
They sure are growing! The first picture is the
first day we had them, the next ten days later. Crombie is the one with the white paws.

When the news talked about Clinton welcoming the soccer team and being at the final game,
they didn't mention that he was late, even later than he usually is, and he was booed by the ticket holders who had to miss the
first half because the Secret Service wouldn't let them into their seats till the President came. (I had a link here, but
Sunshyn and
Jamesnicely told me
it was broken. Thank you!)
Looks like I was just a little ahead of my time.
