To: Manager May 14, 1999 Cucina Cucina W. 707 Main Avenue, Suite A-1 Spokane, WA 99201-0631 From:Richard J. Yarnot Dear Sir/Madam On 9 May 99, my wife and I and other members of our family plus friends gathered in Spokane to attend, and then celebrate the graduation of one of our daughters from Gonzaga University. After the ceremony and reception we all gathered at you restaurant to enjoy a good meal and continue the celebration. We have subsequently found that we were erroneously charged for items we did not receive. After I explain, I believe you will agree that I am entitled to a refund of approximately $55. I apologize for not settling this at the time. Because the graduation ceremony ran late, we arrived at your restaurant late. There was much going on at your restaurant as it was Mother's Day. We were in a hurry to leave when we finished as some members of our party had a plane to catch. Unfortunately, too much trust was placed on the competence of your staff and the itemized bill was not checked until the next day. By then we had all left Spokane for our individual homes. Cross checking has only recently been accomplished. There were nine (9) of us in the party. Three arrived about a half hour before the rest. The three had drinks and one appetizer. When the rest of us arrived, we ordered our main courses. We then had a bottle of champagne and a dessert platter. However, we did NOT have 2 Wood Oven Prawns (at $39.90) nor 1 Kids Alfredo (at $3.95). I suspect there are one or more other items for which we were charged that we did not receive, but we are spread out over a long distance and details are fuzzy. It appears that our bill got items added from some other table. Perhaps, as your billing is done on computer, you may be able to trace the error. I am enclosing with this letter a copy of the itemized bill (check # 6187, table 18, date 05/09/99, time 16:13) and the payment receipt (Mastercard). On the itemized bill I have marked the two items all of my party verified we did not have. We based our tip roughly on 15% of the cost (minus the champagne). I am therefore requesting you refund the cost of the two items, plus tax, plus the equivalent of 15% tip. As I calculate it comes to $54.51. Again, I regret we did not discover and correct this oversight at the time, but we were in a hurry. However, it should not have occurred in the first place, and the waiter should have caught it.
