I took a break. I had stiffed Casey yesterday, so I had to take the child somewhere today. However, the initial plan, which involved a 10-mile drive one way, was definitely out. We went to the park instead.
This was a fun 90 minutes. We both went onto the swings. I had balsa-wood airplanes. Casey really enjoyed this, at least till a tree grabbed it. We worked at getting it down, but we were having no luck. I then pulled out another, and it got eaten by a different tree on the first flight. It was higher, so back we went to the first one. There were some young teens nearby. A number of them, and I was intimidated. However, a lone one, a teenaged boy, came by and I asked him for help. He jumped up, grabbed a nearby branch, then worked the plane down. My hero! Casey thanked the boy.
We also played frisbee, and Casey dug toward China in the sandbox. When the child was tired, I read a book about a spider. I was thrilled to see the child following the text with a finger. Yes! Then on the way back to the car, I pointed out bees on clover, and told the child about how they make honey. There was a good deal of awe on this child's face. We were Very Careful walking back to the car not to step on any bees. After all, we like honey!
I have lost two pounds since yesterday. Rich is forcing me to eat, but no one can make me sleep. We walked over to Wendy's for dinner. I saw a green Volkswagen and fell apart. If that happens every time, this is going to be a very long life, n'est-ce pas?
My friend's ex-family is planning the memorial. It is apparently good for them, even though I'm certain he would have hated it. Me, I'm just along for the ride. I do actually have a couple of ideas. I'm taking rosemary branches from bushes Casanunda gave us, to share out. I'm also writing a eulogy. Usually, at funerals or memorial services, I don't want to speak out. However, this time I insist on it. I may have trouble getting through the words, but I don't think I'll have stage fright.
