May 12: Walk on the Wildside

The wildflowers I planted last year in the Gummitch garden are doing beautifully, and this morning I spotted a painted lady butterfly in it, so it's working!

I never called Sam about the Walk on the Wildside, so initially I was thinking of staying home. However, Rich was hoping for another rookery tour and I eventually woke up enough to want to go too. We got a little lost on our way there, of course. We got there early, though. There was no rookery tour, so we did the two self-guided tours, the riparian one and the wetlands one. We didn't see anything particularly new and different but it was pleasant. My camera completely refused to be coddled any longer. I'll take it in on Monday, since I can live without pictures of Bay-to-Breakers.

I bought a California poppy and a milkweed for the Gummitch garden. I have a thick bunch of poppy seedlings, but wanted something a bit bigger. The little ones are overshadowed by the tall cornflowers. Here, last year, I was worried that I'd raked up all the seeds. Ha!

Back at home, a bill from Gateway because they didn't get back the computer they'd sent me. Since I refused delivery on this twice, I immediately e-mailed. I got an automated response instantly, and a human one within 5 minutes. Gotta call on Monday.

My friend on oxygen needed some help. He hoped Rich would change a couple of light fixtures. Hooray! Rich got to use his new drill!! D. also thrilled me by saying "you're skinny, you can get behind the t.v." It's something like bowling with the codgers, to feel young.
