If you like having fun with your dog, agility is for you!

DOG AGILITY

Dog Agility is one of the fastest growing canine competitive events.  While some of you may aspire to be world class competitors, others may simply want to do something fun with their dog.  Either way, we want you to learn to the best of your ability.  Most importantly, we want you and your dog to HAVE FUN!  We hope you will catch the "Agility Bug"!

Dog Agility is a sport that requires dogs to be sound both physically and mentally.  If we are going to ask our dogs to play this game, then it is our responsibility to see that we keep them in good shape.  Your dog needs a healthy diet and plenty of exercise.  They need exercise for the mind as well as the body!  Please do not bring your dog to class if it is lame or sore.  Although dogs with chronic problems, such as hip Dysplasia, arthritis or simply just getting older, can do agility, use your best judgment as to how much you ask them to do.  Please do not bring a dog to class that is sick in any way (coughing, diarrhea, etc.).  Doing so can compromise the health of the other dogs in class.  Kennel cough is extremely contagious and can knock dogs out of commission for up to 3 weeks.  It is each handler's responsibility to maintain control of their dog.  Dogs must be kept on lead except when it is their turn to work.  Dog aggression, whether aimed at people or other dogs, will be treated on an individual basis.  Flying W, and its instructors, reserve the right to make final judgment in such cases.  We ask that you do not start puppies until they have reached 6 months of age.

BRASS CASTLE FARM POLICY

Classes are held at the Brass Castle Farm throughout the year.  Please be considerate of the Owner and Barn manager.  Dogs must be on leash outside the barn.  ALL DOG WASTE MUST BE PICKED UP AND TAKEN HOME WITH YOU!  There are no receptacles provided at the site.  Winter parking is in the graveled area next to the barn.  Do not block the door.  In the summer, additional parking is available on the top of the hill, weather permitting.

There are two classes every Thursday night.  Beginner and Advanced Beginner should arrive at 7 PM.  Leave your dog(s) in the car (or crated) while you help set up equipment.  Set-up is considered part of the class.  Class ends at 8:30 PM, so the longer it takes to set up the equipment, the less time you have for work and play!  The Advanced/Master class should arrive by 8:30 PM to help reset any equipment, if necessary.  Class should start by 8:45 PM.  It is the responsibility of the Advanced/Master class to break down and store the equipment.

Agility is a great way to build confidence in a dog and strengthen the bond between you and your pet.  Class is a good way to find out about shows, matches and seminars.  We hope you make good friends and get involved in the sport.  We hope you enjoy your class as much as we enjoy teaching it.  We welcome your suggestions and input.

RUN FAST, RUN CLEAN..................................HAVE FUN!!!!
