The Tail of a Weasley - By Thagen
Once upon a time, a very dark and sombre time in the not to distant past, there lived a serious, boring, redheaded, bespectacled, fuddy-duddy of a Weasley named Percy. Percy had been Head-Boy of Hogwarts, had passed his NEWTS with flying colours and had gone into a respectable job at the Ministry of Magic. Percy was very much like his mother with his love for decorum, adherence to rules and all round abhorrence of anything fun (except of course, apparating to breakfast each morning.)

Now there came a time in every wizard’s life that would make or break them. Percy, of course was no exception. When news came that Lord Voldemort had reborn himself in human form, Dumbledore did not hesitate to inform Cornelius Fudge: Minister for Magic of the battle that lay ahead. In his ignorance, Mr. Fudge refused to agree that this was true and stormed out of Hogwarts in a most dramatic manner. Mrs. Weasley, who was present at the time, took it upon herself to spread the word.

Molly called a meeting in “The Burrow” and informed her husband and all her children (bar Ron ‘cause he already knew) that You Know Who was back. Ginny screamed! Fred and George tried to make everyone laugh so that they wouldn’t cry, Charlie was speechless; Bill was shocked; Arthur got up and paced about the room, but Percy stood up from his seat, stomped his foot loudly and cleared his throat with a big cough.

“Family, family.” He said in a very authoritarian manner. “This is ludicrous. If Cornelius Fudge does not believe Dumbledore, nor should I. Do you know what I stand to lose from this if my family is caught being affiliated with the wrong side; my respect, my credibility and my job at the Ministry. I will not support you in your beliefs.” And with that, he apparated away.

Fred snickered, “He forgot to mention that if Mum’s right, he’ll lose his life as well.”

“Pity he doesn’t have one.” Smiled George.

“Enough you two, this is no time for games. It’s your brother we’re talking about.”

“What’s your point?” They murmured.

“If he won’t believe us, then he won’t be part of this family.” Said Arthur, who had stopped pacing. “From this day forth, Percy will no longer be a Weasley.”

And from that day, Percy was longer a Weasley. He carried on with his life, working on reports about cauldron thickness and standardising a broomstick for school usage so no one would feel inferior about the size of their broom. When Voldemort did start creating havoc across, the world, Cornelius did turn to Dumbledore for help and Percy finally admitted he was wrong, but his family got so used to not having him around that they didn’t want him back, much to Fred and George’s’ delight!
