Chapter 10 The Spy "Man, I never knew Transfiguration could take so long" Ron said. "Well, I expect it would be if you kept forgetting how to transfigure a cat into a mouse and back again." "You only say that because you did it perfectly." "If you would pay attention in class you wouldn't have a hard time with it would you?" "I do pay attention Hermione. The stuff keeps getting harder and harder" "I wonder why!" Ron and Hermione argued until they had to separate to get to classes. "Are they always like that?" Alexa asked Harry. "Yeah. You should have seen them-" "Can you tell me later? Or we'll all be late. I think we always run late. What's up with that?" "I don't know. See you later" * * * * * * "Hmm. I predict on Friday I will fall off Gryffindor Tower and get killed. How many times has she said I'd die? About three thousand?" "Something like that" "Something like what?" Alexa asked. "Hello Alexa. We were just talking about how many times Professor Trewlany has predicted my death." "Oh that reminds me. Voldemort is going to try and kill you again Harry. It was way to easy for me to get him to go" "Doesn't he have a hobby?" "Other than trying to kill you, hurt people, gain power and cause fear and chaos.... No. It's all a game to him. A really important game. But you, Dumbledore and me are his worthy opponents-no offence Ron- and we're standing in his path to victory. "Alexa sighed. "Harry, we've got to win this game. If Voldemort wins....well the world would be worse than it was fifteen years ago." "What will be worse?" "Hi Hermione. The world if Voldemort is successful in killing me, Alexa and Dumbledore" Harry said. "Oh Harry! I just remembered! Last year when Professor Dumbledore told Sirius to alert people he said Mundungus Fletcher, Arabella Figg, and Professor Lupin." "So?" "Arabella Figg? That's the lady I live next to. Well, I think that's her name. She's kinda mad from what I got when she talked to me during the two weeks I was there before I came here." "Yeah she is kinda mad. So Hermione are you saying that Mrs. Figg, the lady that used to babysit me is a witch? But why did she break her leg a few years back?" "She couldn't exactly do magic with all the muggles around could she?" said Ron who was still mad at Hermione. "Do you hold grudges Ron?" Alexa teased. "Hey Weasley! I heard you family is working against the Dark Lord! What are they doing? Trying to make some money?" Malfoy said. "Shut up Malfoy" Alexa said as she and Harry struggled to keep Ron from getting to Malfoy. "You’re working against one of your friends parents? How low can you go Weasley?" "Since your life consists of nosing into other people's business, I'll make it a little easier so you don't strain your brain. Ron's family is just covering and acting like they are involved in this. And I'm fighting against my parents too. Yes Malfoy my own parents. So why don't you run and tell your daddy about it? Better hurry, Voldemort might be able to use this information" "Malfoy scowled at her and walked back to the Great Hall. "Stupid git" Ron said. "In case you three didn't know, Malfoy's parents are big supporters of Voldemort although I'd find it hard to believe it if you didn't know that" "Yes, we knew that so don't worry." "Don't tell anyone this-Dumbledore already knows- but I can tell you all the supporters. I mean it. All of them." said Alexa. "How? Voldemort was the only one who knew who his supporters were." "He kept a journal. That was a huge mistake. Another one was that he left it in my room and my mother was in such a hurry to pack my things to go look for him, that she packed it thinking it was a story book. When I was five, I taught myself to read by using the journal. So I have all the names and pictures of all the Death Eaters and Lucius Malfoy is one of them." "So you could put an end to this and tell the Ministry" "Call me crazy, but I can't do it. I've tried it but I couldn't hand over the book. It's crazy, I know. Even though Voldemort is evil, he's still my father and I'm probably just to sentimental about it but could you turn in your own father?" "When you put it that way, no." "It's my fault Voldemort even came here. He's been after that book since I was seven." "And you've put up with it for eight years?" Ron asked. "If you want to be exact, seven years, I haven't had my birthday yet." "Ok, seven years. How could you stand that?" Harry asked. "I fought it. He put the Imperius Curse on me to get it from me but I fought the curse." "But how could he curse you? He didn't have a form until last year." "He took the body's of snakes. I'm a Parselmouth too, so I understood what was happening." "How could a parent do it? Put a curse on their own kid?" "If they were cruel and heartless, it would be simple." "Alexa, how come You-Know-Who was in Slytherin and you're in Gryffindor?" "Ron, I told you this last year. Just because you're family, doesn't mean you'll be in the same House." "That was last year Hermione! It's hard to remember." "Shut up!" Alexa whispered. Professor Callen had just walked out of the Great Hall. "I don't like him." Alexa said after he was gone. "How could you say that? We haven't even had his class yet!" said Hermione. "There's something about him that I don't like. I don't know what it is but he seems somewhat familiar." They walked into the Great Hall and ate some toast quickly before heading to Double Potions. "Why do we start the morning with Double Potions?" "They want us to be used to unfair things." "We already are. With having Snape for a teacher for any class, we're prepared for the worst." "Ron be quiet or he'll hear." They walked in and took their seats. Potions passed very slowly. Snape seemed to be in an extremely bad mood. He took points of for things like 'the potion isn't thick enough' or 'it's too good for a fifth year bozo like you to have made' When he went passed Alexa's cauldron, he leaned over and whispered something to her. Alexa stood there dumbfounded, then she recovered from whatever it was that Snape had told her, and went back to making her potion but glaring as she did it. After the bell rang, Alexa threw her things into her bag and ran out the door. Harry, Ron and Hermione looked at her and followed. "Alexa!" Harry panted after finally catching up to her outside the door of the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. Alexa turned around and Harry saw that she looked extremely mad or hurt about something. When she saw them (this took a few seconds due to the many people in the corridor) the angry look faded but she still looked like she had been offended. "What did Snape tell you?" Ron asked. Alexa sighed, "I don't know if I should tell you." "Oh come on Alexa, we're your freinds! It can't be as bad as having You-Know-Who for a father." Hermione said. "With Snape, anything is bad" Ron said. "Right?" "If you say so. Although I'm not that excited to get to class but come on." "Alexa, I don't understand why you don't like Professor Callen-" "Shut up Hermione, he'll hear." Professor Callen was sitting at his desk waiting for the class to come in. When they were all seated, he stood. "Hello students. I am Professor Callen and I will be teaching your Defence Against the Dark Arts classes. I have notes from past teachers and I know what has been taught. You are very far on learning about evil creatures but are still behind in curses. I will not be performing the Unforgivable Curses, so you can relax. Instead I shall be teaching you about more horrible curses." Professor Callen smiled. Alexa looked up from twirling her quill and looked at the Professor amazed. "She's not acting right." Harry whispered to Ron. "We need to talk to her. She can't keep whatever it is locked up inside herself." After class was over, Alexa put her things in her bag and turned to look at Harry, Ron and Hermione. "Come on" she mouthed. The others finished putting their things away and ran out of the classroom and into the Great Hall. "What?" Alexa looked around and sighed. "I'll tell you tonight in the common room. Someone might overhear. I'm sorry to put this off but I can't chance having anyone overhear this." * * * * * That night, they were sitting in the common room finishing their homework. "Ok so tell us what's been going on." "All right. Snape thinks it was my idea to have Voldemort come here. But it wasn't! He said someone from inside this castle gave him the idea. But it wasn't me! But I do know who it was. It's- Come on we have to tell Dumbledore." Alexa jumped up and ran out of the common room. Harry looked at Ron and Hermione and followed. When they caught up, they saw that she was standing against the wall next to the corner. They heard voices coming so they ducked into a classroom. The voices passed and they stepped out of the classroom and looked around. "How come we couldn't understand what they were saying?" "They had a very sloppy eavesdropping charm on so we could hear the voices but not understand anything." "Alexa what are you talking about?" "Come on, you'll understand once I tell Dumbledore." She ran off again. "Really, we need to get a leash for her so we can keep sight of her." Ron said. They found her waiting for them by the gargoyle. "Cauldron Cake" The gargoyle sprang aside and they walked into Dumbledore's office. "Professor? There's a spy here." |
