Myrtle Potter
Chapter Five - A New Arrival Cont.
They had the most fun this lesson that they had ever had in school. The entire hour was spent flying objects around the room. While they did this, Bill gave points to anyone who could knock him over the head. Needless to say, everybody did.

Unable to stop laughing, Myrtle, Toni and Ben walked down to lunch. They sat down at the Gryffindor table next to Victor, who was talking to Will Creevey. The five ate their lunch whilst talking about how the first day of school had been so far.

When Myrtle finished her lunch, she looked down the other end of the table. A bunch of Gryffindor third years were reading a piece of parchment. When they had finished, they slid it along the table to Myrtle. She picked it up and read:

“Quidditch trials will take place tomorrow, Saturday 6th September at 3:40 p.m. please bring your broomsticks. Be advised that students in first year are not allowed to try out, as they have not yet learnt to fly properly. The positions needed are as follows:
*Chaser
*Beater
*Seeker
Hope to see you there,
Cameron Wood
Captain.”

Quidditch. Finally, Myrtle would get to try out. She hadn’t been allowed last year, even though she had already learnt how to fly. Having a world champion Quidditch player for a father did have its benefits. Myrtle couldn’t wait. She handed the parchment to Ben and Toni who were looking anxious as to why she looked so happy.

Ben frowned as he read it.

“I’m hopeless at flying. I refuse to try out.”

“What about you Toni? You had all those lessons with me during the summer.” Pleaded Myrtle.

“I’ll try out. I’m not very good though. I’d never get to be on the team. You will Myrtle. One day you’ll be playing Seeker for England.”

“Balderdash. I’m not that good. And you are so good enough to make the team. Bet you’d flog those third years trying out.”

Toni was about to reply when somebody entered the hall. She had blonde hair, blue eyes, a pointed nose and a pretty horrible looking face. Professor Mancini walked her over to the Slytherin table. Everybody in the hall was looking at her. She smiled, basking in her glory.

As Professor Mancini walked past the Gryffindors, she said,

“New girl. Transferred here from Durmstrang. I don’t like the look of her much. Her name’s Yvette. Yvette Burstrom. Have fun next lesson.”

With that, she swept from the room.

Myrtle couldn’t stop looking at this Yvette girl. She was sure she’d seen her before. But where?

Yvette caught Myrtle’s gaze from across the room. She stared a cold, hard stare. Myrtle stared back, positive that this girl would be worse than ten Crabbe and Goyles.
