Myrtle Potter Chapter One - Off To Hogwarts Cont. |
At this, there was a mad rush to collect belongs from every corner of the house they had been left in. They were all shoved into Myrtle’s trunk and the lid was closed. She then went back upstairs to her bedroom to retrieve her owl, Ebony. She had got Ebony last year. It had been a present from Hagrid, the Care Of Magical Creatures teacher at Hogwarts. He had bought her father’s owl, Hedwig for him as well and thought it fitting to carry on the tradition. When Myrtle came downstairs again, Harry picked up her trunk and they walked out the door. All of them had forgotten about Elli. Everyone piled into Ron’s van. Hermione was given priority sitting up the front as getting in and out of the van was a bit complicated due to the fact that the van had been magicked several times to make it more comfortable. In no time at all, they were zooming down the road in the direction of Kings Cross Station. Upon arriving at Kings Cross, Harry got out to find some trolleys for all their luggage. Then everybody went and leant against the magical barrier separating Platform 9 and Platform 9 and ¾. A spectacular sight met their eyes as the smoke from the train settled. Wizards everywhere. The grand Hogwarts Express stood proudly awaiting it’s cargo of excited students and somewhere in the midst of it all were Myrtle and Toni’s friends that they had met the year before. Somebody tapped Myrtle’s shoulder and she turned around and saw her father waiting there. He beckoned her to follow him and they stood, away from the crowd where no one could hear them. “Myrtle, I have a present for you. It is very valuable and I don’t want you to loose it. I think it will make your time at Hogwarts a bit nicer this year. Also, I’m very sick of trying to hide those Howlers from your mother.” “I’m sorry Dad,” “I’m not worried Myrtle. Don’t you stress your little head. Don’t give me that look. I know that you were up all night last night worrying about me. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. Everything will be fine. I’m ok. Now come here.” Harry had his arms outstretched, waiting for a hug. Myrtle did as he requested. “If anything worries you, Professor Black will take care of it. I’ll send you an express owl when your mother has the baby. Maybe you can get a couple of days off to visit her. Goodbye my darling.” “Bye Dad.” Said Myrtle “Dad, what’s going on at the Mini…” she was interrupted by her mother. “Myrtle! Harry! Get over here. The train’s about to leave. Goodbye sweetheart, mind you study hard.” Myrtle boarded the train and went over to the window where Antoinette and Victor were waving from. They continued to wave until the people on the platform became nothing but blurs on the horizon. Hogwarts here we come! |
