Myrtle Potter
Chapter Ten - Snakes In The Grass Cont.
“Myrtle, move away from her.” Hermione had appeared behind Myrtle. She had obviously heard everything. “Leave Elli and come away. Your father will find Sirius. I am certain.” The tone in her voice did not reassure Myrtle however. Hermione looked terribly frightened.

“Mum, who was the last person Voldemort killed?

A tear glistened in her mother’s eye.

“Dumbledore.” She murmured. “He almost killed Professor Black too. If your father had not regained consciousness, this world would be no more.”

“I just had another dream. I saw Dumbledore. I heard people dieing. Not wanting to betray their friends and family. But I still am not convinced that Voldemort is behind everything. It just seems wrong. Is there anyway it could be somebody else?”

“Frankly, I don’t believe anybody possesses what Voldemort had and may still have. Such a need for segregation. A need to cleanse the world of all believed “Impure.” It is pure evil and I don’t believe anybody else capable of it. However, if you feel that it is somebody else, you may well be right.”

“I don’t know. Everybody seems to have persuaded me to think that it is Voldemort. I mean he was the ultimate evil guy. What else can I think?”

“Only the truth my dear. It will guide you.”

Out of nowhere, a roar of laughter erupted from the bathroom. Hermione and Myrtle rushed to see what was going on.

“Never in my life, or after life, have I heard such a load of rot. Why I even bother to come here anymore. Harry never home and all. Rest of you don’t even treat me as somebody worth knowing. Just because Myrtle’s dead. Just because you can’t always see her, doesn’t mean she doesn’t have feelings.” The ghost of a glum looking schoolgirl with glasses emerged from the bathroom tap.

“Great.” Said Hermione. “You sure do choose odd times to visit don’t you Moaning Myrtle.”

An unhappy look set itself on Moaning Myrtle’s face.

“I’ve come to tell you where your baby is. I myself can’t decipher it. That wretched Vanessa the Undresser is really annoying. Now what did she say?”

“Tell me before I kill you Moaning Myrtle! You can die a second time!” Hermione screamed.

“Just ‘coz Myrtle’s got glasses.” She mumbled. “Let me see, it goes like this:
Hidden far away from prying eyes, the darkness grows and grows. The Muggles gone, not one of them who knows. The darkness looms, the scene is set. The snakes be hissing, no one’s met them yet. In the distance, the animals make their call. Waiting for the one, who’ll bring about Earth’s fall.
See you later girls. Don’t shoot the messenger.” With a whoosh, she was back up the pipe.

“Animals? Snakes that haven’t yet been seen? Muggles? Where is it Mum?” Myrtle was getting anxious.

“The zoo. It closes at 7 p.m. They just got a new case of snakes; Voldemort must need them to rise or whatever he’s doing. I have to go. Oliver will look after you. I have to find Harry. Bye.”

Hermione ran out of the bathroom, down the stairs, yelling instructions to Oliver as she prepared to find Harry and her son.
