Faith in Practice
An organization of faith
Founded in 1993, Faith In Practice is a non-profit organization that performs surgical, medical, and dental operations for the poor citizens in the country of Guatemala in attempt to better the physical, spiritual, and economic conditions of those living there. Deeply rooted in Christianity, the missions' efforts also focus on education and spiritual guidance for the people of Guatemala.
Todd Collier, founding father of Faith in Practice, while in Guatemala learning Spanish, was deeply inspired by the work of Friar Guillermo Bonilla and Saint Pedro and their work involving theHospital Obras Sociales Hermano Pedro, a hospital in Guatemala dedicated to treating poor orphans of Guatemala. Todd later returned to Antigua ,Guatemala with a team of doctors as well as a few of his fellow church members--the beginning of Faith In Practice.
Today, the numbers and accomplishments include:
-Over 750 surgeries performed
-Over 12,400 patients treated
-Over 2,800 dental treatments performed
-Staffs as large as 500 per trip
-75% Medical/Dental
-25% Support Crew
Striving in each mission to fulfill "The Great Commandmant", to love your neighbor as yourself, Faith in Practice is a true model of faith. Volunteers believe in eachother and the good they are capable of acheiving. The crew workers give their time and effort solely because they believe that if we are truley to respond to God's love, then we are to care for His people, especially those who are hurting. Striving to be like Jesus who, himself, healed the sick to care for God's people, the staff of Faith In Practice has a deep faith that they are fulfilling God's mission by sharing their time and talents to help God's suffering people. While it is the faith in eachother as well as their work that often drives them, a stronger Faith is at the center of the mission. This is the Faith of Christianity. It is this Faith that they are spreading through their actions and this Faith that they yearn to share with those encountered. This Faith will help this wonderful organization to contitnue to help those who are hurting for years to come.
