Joe Strummer of the Clash ignoring Alien orders (DC Collection)
Fire 'N' Skill - The Jam (DC Collection)
The Jam along with the Damned and the Clash are one of London's biggest crowd pullers at the moment. And they're suprisingly still on the verge of signing to a major, but that is just a matter of time as they play London's Nashville Rooms tonight.
Patti Pissed off
PATTI SMITH
Patti Smith New York punk poetess and Manhatton Beat nick medusa has her debut 45 and probably her punkiest track 'Piss Factory' rereleased today along with 'Hey Joe' on Sire Records in whats seemed by some as an elaborate attempt to exploit the growing punk market.
The A side of "Piss Factory" featured a story describing abuse received in an early job in an assembly line in New Jersey, with the flipside 'Hey Joe' a version of the Jimmi Hendrix inspred blues track with the addition of a spoken piece about fugitive heiress Patty Hearst. It also featured Richard Sohl on piano, Lenny Kaye on guitar and Tom Verlaine (of
Television) on lead guitar.
